I believe that it should be a flat tax rate for all, regardless of income.

"The rich" already pony up most of our income tax revenue; jacking them up for more won't make a dent in the debt, and very likely would further depress job creation for the rest of us.
The government is taking in enough to meet essential obligations at the current debt limit; borrowing more will only give them more to spend. It is not possible to spend one's way out of debt, and it's self-destructive to service debt with more borrowed money; that's the path to Perdition.
The Federal government is getting pretty bloated, and overdue for liposuctioning. Cutting expenses is the surest way to eliminate debt. There are plenty of functions the government has arrogated to itself in the last ten years or so that should be cut, and there was plenty of pork long before then.

Jim Huston,
That last sentence of yours above -- which way do you want it to read?
1) There are plenty of functions the government has arrogated to itself in the last ten years -- or so that should be cut
OR
2) There are plenty of functions the government has arrogated to itself in the last ten years or so -- that should be cut
With your lack of punctuation, inquiring minds want to know.

The punctuation is correct; just read the sentence. Your choice #1 makes no grammatical sense.

Your punctuation is incorrect. A comma or a hyphen is appropriate in this case to connect the "or so" to the first part of the sentence or to connect it to the last four words of the sentence. Agreed, the #1 choice makes little sense, but it is the type of grammatical nonsense that we've come to expect from the many uneducated people here in Rushville. We’re unsure of your status, James, as to whether or not you’re part of the vast uneducated class here in Rushville

I'm not going to argue with you about it, N.E., since it's way off topic, and your assumptions about the use of commas or hyphens do not correspond with what I have been taught for the last 50 years or so. They should be used to delineate a list, separate clauses, and at natural pauses that occur when the sentence is spoken aloud; beyond that, do not proliferate.
I recommend you either take an English Comp refresher or buy a style guide. I've been using Walsh's "Plain English Handbook" since high school; I can also recommend "A Pocket Style Manual" by Diana Hacker.

we need to cut spending outside this country.. this country gives more money to other countries than any other. we let factories go to mexico then ship those goods back here to be called made in USA. they stay here till their tax ebates run out then move away.lets start maken them pay those ebates if they leave the US. and then charge em an arm leg and left nut to get the products back in this country. We subsidise the big oil companys.let them subsidise their own butts they are the ones maken record proffits.I never understood how some people can get a 4,000 to 9,000 dollar tax refund when they only paid in 500.you can go on and on about the wasted money this country gives away for nothin.but noone seems to think this adds to the debt.As earl pitts would say WAKE UP AMERICA........
