Separate but equal is never possible. ALL marriages should be called Civil Unions and have the same legal protections. If people want their union to be called Marriage too, let them have it deemed such by their religious organization, but the religious aspect of any union should have no connection to the law and government. Total separation of Church and State is necessary for our society to function with respect for ALL people. Also, please note: NOT EVERYONE IS MALE OR FEMALE! And those people should be recognized as human too, and allowed to marry whomever they love, without conforming to society's small-minded and INCORRECT notion of gender being binary instead of a spectrum.
