Right now, everyone operates under the same law. Nobody's rights are being violated. The law states that no person may marry another of the same gender. Therefore, straight or gay, we're all operating under the same rights. If you don't like it, change it.

If we're going off what the Bible says, because the Bible said it was 'Adam and Eve', then we should point out that the Bible also says:

Leviticus 19:28 - No tattoos:
Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the LORD.

Leviticus 19:27-Don't shave or get haircuts:
Ye shall not round the corners of your heads, neither shalt thou mar the corners of thy beard.

Dueteronomy 19:1-If you injure your private parts you cannot enter Heaven:
He that is wounded in the stones, or hath his privy member cut off, shall not enter into the congregation of the LORD.

Exodus 21:17-If a child mouths off, he should be killed.
"And he that curseth his father, or his mother, shall surely be put to death."

So, if you are going to use the argument that it's Adam and Eve not Adam and steve, I hope you plan on following all of these among other ridiculous outdated things that the Bible says you must do. Otherwise you would be a complete hypocrite. You cannot pick and choose. Its all or nothing. It's the 21st century, get with the times. Equality is guaranteed to all in America. If you don't like it, move somewhere else.

Some concepts are outdated from the Bible, sure, but this is not one of them. Marriage is supposed to be between a man and a woman! If we let gays get married, then whats next- a man marrying three women? A woman marrying ten men? In addition to this, how would we ever explain this to our children! They are the future, and we cannot let this travesty continue! Its barbaric, and should be stopped dead in it's tracks! It's slapping the one true God in the face, and just the thought of people participating in such acts makes me sick to my stomach! They will most definitely be going to Hell, and I can't say that I feel bad in the least way.

We are for EQUALITY. That means everyone deserves to be equal. My best friend is a lesbian and she is NOT going to Hell for that. If she wanted to be able to go out and get married to a woman I would be more then happy for her. What if your daughter was gay, or your son? What would you do? You can't pretend that they are not gay. You cannot get the 'gay' out of them. People are born gay, it isn't a choice or a passing fad. It's who they are. Are you telling me that you would choose to not let your child be who they are if they were gay?

@smarks, you're right the bible does say no tattoos. People getting tattoos and haircuts are breaking biblical rules and destroying our society. They're the ones causing this!

@smarks you're right, people breaking other biblical rules, such as disrespecting parents and getting tattoos shouldn't be allowed to marry either! We need stricter marriage laws!

Stricter marriage laws? What are you proposing, arranged marriages only? Talk about 14th century no thank you, and I think you'll have a hard time convincing many others of that as well! America is the land of the free, not the land of the free to be auctioned off by your parents...and the Bible is not a set of rules, its a set of moral guidelines that are meant to be taken metaphorically to improve yourself and others, not to be taken so seriously that it causes you to kill your children because they misbehaved!

As a matter of fact, I have heard that some people in arranged marriages end up very happy. And then they don't have to worry about dating or any of that stressful stuff.

That is a very primitive idea and goes against free will. In South Asia, 48% of girls were forced into an arrange marriage before age 18. In Bangladesh 27% of girls were forced into the same situation before age 15. Some of those girls might not even have hit puberty yet! Yet they're being shipped off to live with a man who is usually much older then them where they have little to no rights and could be abused easily because they have no voice. THIS is what you want for America?

Being FORCED into marriage at an age when you can't even consent is not what I want. I meant stricter PROTECTIVE marriage laws, which would include requiring being 18 and a consenting participant in the marriage, something not required in all states. Also perhaps some kind of test, to make sure both members are emotionally stable enough to be married, and to make sure that both members can have healthy children together, something a 15 year old probably can't do.

"Some boys like boys. Some girls like girls."

Wow, that was difficult. If you can't explain the existence of gay people, perhaps your parenting skills need work.

Actually we dealt with this awhile ago. Same reason some like red and others like blue. It's called choice. If you want more info look at the Theory of Evolution. If science is correct, one cannot be born "homosexual".

There are a lot of psychological reasons, but those are beyond most parents.

@Rainbow sunset - you're arguing a lost cause here. I'm trying to advocate for gay rights. You're trying to argue for the restriction of rights we've already been granted.

@FLBeaver - it has not yet been proven that homosexuality is or is not based in science. Here is a sight that more or less tells explains the details : http://www.godandscience.org/evolution/geneti...

In addition, there are many cases of homosexuality in many different animal species including our closest ancestors, the monkeys.(If you question the legitamecy of this article there are plenty of others online for you to view)

Does the political party that a state represents (democrat or republican) correspond to whether or not gay rights or gay marriages are legal?
smarks2

Everywhere that gay marriage is legal is currently democratic. That's probably because generally speaking democrats are much more pro social movements/social reforms. Democratic president Obama stated at one point that he believed that gay marriage should be legal in the United States, and the democratic party actually has plans to make legalizing gay marriage one of its platforms. "party officials do not anticipate any major obstacles going forward."
