The argument that allowing same sex marriages well redefine traditional marriage is moot.

The fact that you can't sell your daughter for 3 goats and a cow means that we have already redefined traditional marriage.

Hard to believe that you couldn't get more than 3 goats and a cow. Hear that people still do it. Now it is for drugs.

And the issue is civil. So where are the Feds with this. Okay with gay relationships in immigration, but not okay with civil unions? Civil Rights. Federal Law.

The feds are totally lost anymore. They have no clue what it is they stand for. They are too busy pandering to anyone and everyone, thereby diluting the public's confidence in them and deluding themselves by thinking the actually make a meaningful difference. The more they try to find their identities, the worse they make things. Goes for both political platforms sadly.

I doubt anytime in recent history have they been biting themselves in their collective backsides so many times with obscure precedent.

human beings need true love. God is True Love and yet there's those, who in error claim human love and want marriage, well, let it be.

It is a civil union and not religious. Give them all the benefits of health and IRS. The government supports it and it is a civil issue, not religious.

My Favorite question of the day yesterday...

JUSTICE SOTOMAYOR: Mr. Olson, the bottom line that you’re being asked — and — and it is one that I’m interested in the answer: If you say that marriage is a fundamental right, what State restrictions could ever exist? Meaning, what State restrictions with respect to the number of people, with respect to — that could get married — the incest laws, the mother and child, assuming that they are the age — I can — I can accept that the State has probably an overbearing interest on — on protecting a child until they’re of age to marry, but what’s left?

a civil contract between 2 people almost mimics a power of attorney if one gets sick or dies. different sex couples get the bennies by filing for a marriage license with the local govt. Instead of same-sex getting a 'marriage' license gets a civil union contract bestowing the same financial terms and legal protection as a marriage does. Seems the best thing as no one or group no matter how vocal will change the general publics concept of 'marriage' as being between a man and a woman with same sex couples. So, let them have the 'civil' part of it without defining it as a 'marriage'.

Claiming somebody else's marriage is against your religion is the same a being mad that someone is eating a donut because you're on a diet.
