If a person kills another and its w/o a doubt that person did it why concern ourselves what the killers state of mind was at the time or what could have caused them to act that way, just blow out the candle.

If the death penality actually prevented people from killing other then yes, however it does not work. People continue to be violent and kill people.

Killing is Wrong, always. When we sanction Murder, it is still Murder. When we allow illegal War, as in Iraq, it is Murder. When we Choose to execute Criminals, it IS Murder. Wouldn't it be helpful to be able to question Timothy Mcveigh, at this point in time? We Can't, we killed him. Saddam Hussein was an Evil Man, once he was no longer of use to us. So we allowed his execution. No matter who it is, no matter what they have done, Life in Prison is The worst Punishment we should ever apply.

Have an open Election. All Votes are made public, Any one who vote in favor of the Death Penalty gets to have their name put into a Lottery. When ever some is found to have been executed in error, we draw a name, and that person goes to prison for life.

No, I meant Life in Prison. Because I can't be serious about opposition to the Death Penalty, and then sanction the same punishment for those who support it. Killing is wrong, always, Period.
