Boy, that is a hard one. He is mentally ill. But he seems to be living in a place & around people who don't care to get him help, less his parents. AZ has laws about the officials evaluating people with illnesses yet the local officials chose not to have his mental stability evaluated. The people and college also failed this guy. I recall during the health care voting Betsy Markey received a threat and the person was immediately dealt with. Why then was a man who was harassing this congress woman not dealt with? WHY? A child and some wonderful sounding people were murdered because society refused to help a fellow human being. When they were preaching we are all Tusconians...I was insulted. I do not ignore my fellow human beings.

Well said . However the penalty for intentionally taking the life of another human being [or my dog ] aside from self defense should result in death..Im for it and most people who do not plan to commit this type of crime are for it..Not so much an eye for an eye , but more like justice for the thought of potentially halting an entire existence of some family blood line or removing the only parent or family of several children..Or stopping the life of a young student aspiring to be a doctor for the poor.. What can equal the justice of someones violent actions such as this..even mentally impaired people understand life and death..Yes there were many signs to this particular tragic act and that should be reviewed and answered to.. we all get tested in school for these kind of issues and obviously this was going to happen ,,Obviously this could have been avoided..Very sadly ..it could have been avoided..many people saw he had issues..but the people who could have done something didn't....His parents could have done something..Surely they knew he had problems..But the death penalty should be in all states..Even for insane people....One thing EVERYONE understands is death...

Absolutely! Put him out of his misery. If you have a dog that is sick, and can't be trained, and is a threat to society you euthanize it. We should treat humans at least as well as we do our animals.

I'm quoting my cousin, "Great idea. We put animals down when they bite people, so we should put humans down for hurting people too, then when there's only three people left on this earth, we can finally learn to keep our hands OFF of each other."
Holy cow I better lock my doors tonight that means at least 5 of my neighbors will try to kill me

Where is your evidence to support this claim? Just a question, because my evidence points to the contrary, and no, its not the appeals process. I'm tired of hearing that counterargument. I wrote a thesis on these financial aspects last semester, and I was having trouble finding "credible" studies that pointed out the opposition; it would be interesting to see otherwise.
It's actually pretty simple. Death penalty, suspect is dead and is no longer a threat to society. Deport someone and they can just come back and cause more destruction. It's not like a dead guy is gonna crawl up out of his box and harm more people. Life isn't a George Romero film.

When you say most people agree with the death penalty, where are your statistics? Which people are you referring to? Americans? I can guarantee you have no evidence to qualify such a claim. I do not agree with such a claim. Americans, maybe, but certainly NOT most people.
Maybe you dont know enough pissed off victims.....You cant guarantee squat about me..Nada...Or who I know Or where Ive been... I stand by my statement,,Haven't you already seen enough on this thread to see a pattern yet...That might be the problem...Clarity... You can be as clear as glass and some people still cant see it..

At the top of this page it also says 9 for, 3 against..Do you have a problem with polls ?are you one of the three ? I am one of the 9..So Im seeing the evidence is right here...wouldn't you agree ?....Is it at the top of your page too?...thanks for your opinion..It brings us closer to understanding your kind..Are you a parent of someone on death row ? Im just asking..It too late for this guy..And Im sure when you become a candidate for death you probably deserve it ....Even like this guy, It doesnt matter if hes nuts and can be rehabbed...What he did is so unforgivable that he should be sent to the prison in Chili If he doesnt get death...Its a waste of money to feed him as far as Im concerned..

3 people left huh? I'm acquainted with a lot of people and don't know a single one who deserves the death penalty. Perhaps you choose the wrong friends. Look around you guy. There are a lot of good people out there. Sometimes we don't realize it because the few bad ones get all the attention. Most folks try to do whats right, they care about and help other people and don't cause any harm to anybody. They just don't make the headlines.

Financial information? Cost of death penalty vs costs of deportation vs cost of life sentence w/out parole?
Actually I was only addressing Aunties second sentence in my reply to you. I can address the first one as well. I think the death penalty should be reserved for clear cut cases if an individual taking another individual's life. In these cases, when it is clear cut, why should we offer them appeals or expensive "humane" ways to die. I guarantee you if they cut out all that crap, executions would be much cheaper. There are also costs which are not monetary. How about the cost when we deport someone, only to have them return and kill another human being months or years later. What is the price of that person's life? How about Nathan Dunlap currently sitting on death row in Colorado. He murdered 4 people in 1993, one of which I went to school with. He's still wasting oxygen as we speak. Ok, he's not illegal, but he's a prime example of whats wrong with the appeals process. Its almost 20 years later and he is still breathing. What about the families of the victims? Should they have to live with this while it drags out for 20 years? I would gladly shoot him myself if they asked. I'd even bring my own gun and bullets. How much does that cost the government?
