Most of the anti-choice language comes from men. I suspect that if those same men found themselves knocked up through some weird event they'd sing a different tune.
It's always easier to ban something you can't have anyway.
Seems like it only a bunch of men on here lobbying to kill other peoples children. If you would pay attention and think for yourself you would sing a different tune. But logic has been proven to be unattainable to the weak of mind and easily indoctrinated. For those who can think for yourselves here is some information. http://unfairchoice.info/intro.htm It will give the indoctrinated parrots something else to deny with the big government money abortion mills twisted logic. Hey do you know how many mammograms planned parenthood performs yearly?

I'm not as interested in changing law as I am, showing abortion is immoral. The one area where Conservatives intrude, is for life. I like being a conservative.

So you ignore all facts and evidence to the contrary. Abortion harms women physically, emotionally and spiritually. Abortion murders people. Abortion serves men when they have no responsibility to provide for their children or to protect the mother. Your lack of logic is astounding to say the least. http://unfairchoice.info/intro.htm Coercion is common, takes many forms and often comes from all sides. Forcing women to abort can have significant legal ramifications, even under current lax laws, and unwanted abortions are an internationally recognized4 human rights abuse.

Coercion can involve personal blackmail or even violence from families or partners. It can involve exploitation by employers; school, social services or pastoral counselors; or trusted medical advisors. It may happen when individuals or couples already under pressure seek answers, referrals or a helping hand from experts in the helping professions. Coercion can escalate to violence or even homicide -- the #1 killer of pregnant women.3

One school ran a weekly bus to the clinic. "It was all so organized," a student reported. The school counselor mocked her concerns before putting her on the bus. At the clinic, a nurse ordered her to be quiet and said, "this is no time for questions."

Coercion can escalate to violence. In Indiana, a pregnant woman was thrown from a bridge. A Connecticut woman was murdered just two weeks before her due date. Others have been restrained, beaten or killed in unthinkable ways. Homicide3 is the leading killer of pregnant women.(See Forced Abortion in America.) Women are dying, too.

"The dogma of choice is trotted out as though it were infallible and beyond question, but question it we must. We are obliged to ask -- whose choice are we talking about? The boyfriend's choice? The pushy mother's choice? Society's choice?" -- Fiorella de Maria

After abortion ...
After abortion, women suffer trauma, physical injury and nearly 4 times higher maternal death rates, including but not limited to higher suicide rates. Unwanted abortions, heartbreak and serious, even deadly aftereffects are not about "choice" in the conventional and true sense of the word. These and other risks are well documented. Educate yourself and stop regurgitating your indoctrination.

Everyone talks about a woman's right to choose but what about the unborn child's right to live?

You're a filthy liar and should be ashamed of yourself by trying to use scare tactics to further your agenda.

And stop patronizing women and portraying them as incapable of making informed choices over their own body- its disgusting and insulting. No one on this forum is advocating forced abortions- save that for your China argument, what we are advocating is CHOICE.

That's really where the topic gets heated. It all depends on how you define your terms. If you subscribe to a certain narrow religious view then a person is created when sperm meets egg. Scientifically, that is absolutely unsound. Philosophically it is also weird since there isn't a consciousness to claim personhood.

It's a muddy topic that is likely to never be agreed upon. But what we surely can agree upon is that we want fewer abortions, right? I do, you probably, and the Pro-Life folks clearly do. So how do we achieve that goal?

You can take a hammer to the problem and just ban abortion. But you end up pushing it to the criminal fringe. It will STILL HAPPEN. It has always happened. It will always happen. Abortions will continue to take place as long as we know how to do them.

End of story.

A smarter way to handle it is to use statistics and figure out which populations are most likely to have abortions. Then figure out what they have in common that might be contributing to this fact.

Turns out education has a LOT to do with it. Smarter people have fewer pregnancies. Fewer pregnancies means fewer abortions.

So, IMHO, step 1 is to improve education among people who have the worst education. If some area of some city has a lower per capita graduation rate, then focus some energy on that area. See what the schools need, see what is contributing to the dropout rate, etc.

From there you can keep looking at the data and figuring out ways to deal with the issue.

The emotional reaction is to ban abortion and protest Planned Parenthood. That's also the ignorant way to do it. And it won't work, even in your wildest imaginings.

Be smarter. Attack the root causes, not the victims of the situation.

And secular extremists don't 'pick and choose what parts of the Bible they want'; I've seen plenty of bible quotes from critics.

Follow life; you know you aren't doing wrong if you aren't killing your baby.

End of story there should be a set number than anyone woman can have in her life time. I however do feel that the woman should always have the right to choose.

I fully support a referendum on this issue voted on by women. Why is that so controversial?

So, it's a special right only women have. A gender biased right. The right to murder your fetus is only legal for the mother.

Wrong, wrong, wrong... life has values and lies don't.

Yep its a law based in the biology of each sex (which is immutable- for the most part). Complain to God about it then. Actually furthermore, its legally based in the right to privacy.

Because another woman is not in a position to decide what is best for me and vice versa...that's why.

Untrue- the baby could be subjected to abuse once born, he/she could be mistreated, neglected. Also, some people have children for selfish reasons, to trap a partner or fix a relationship or plain narcissism. The motives behind having children can also be sinful. It's not entirely black and white.
