If made illegal it will just push abortions into an unregulated black market situation leading to more deaths of women and unborn children...duh

It shouldn't be up to the government what a woman does with her body.

The government shouldnt be funding the murder of innocent children. Abortion is murder. You can sugar coat it and make all the excuses you want to, but it's murder, period.

Those risks are no secret. If they choose to do it, it's on them. I guess you are saying it's better to have a safe way to kill babies? A regulated process?
Rape or risk to the mother's life have never been issues when it comes to legal abortion. That is something that pro-choice supporters use to gain 'fans'. There are systems in place to prevent pregnancy after a rape. A dr can do a D&C, the woman can take the morning after pill. There's no reason to wait until you find out you're pregnant.
The biggest problem today is that women have abortions like they get hair cuts. I personally know a woman who had three in a single year. That is disgusting.

Well the government can keep their nose out of it and not pay for it... but it's a womans choice. I think it all comes down to religion more than what is or is not life.... seriously. The government has no problem taking lives.

wah wah wah. whether you like it or not..people will always get abortions. a fetus is just a cluster of cells anyway. lol and the bible talks about smashing babies on rocks..(Psalms 137:9) so maybe we should just do that instead. make a day of it. have music and dancing, and smash babies on rocks. hahaha

A Catholic female friend who opposed abortion told me back in the 90's that one of the reasons she opposed abortion was because the majority of females that had an abortion were white.
I don't know if there has been a survey done that supports her thinking.

I think it should be up to that person to make that decision. They are the ones who will have to live with that decision. I personally believe the only time an abortion should happen is if they were raped.

Yeah - let's force them to have babies by taking away free birth control from Planned Parenthood, the babies suffer for a year or so, and then they die from abuse....that is much better!

Don't worry, god has a perfect plan and everything we do is part of that plan! So, the murder of babies can't be blamed on the doctors or the mothers, it is part of gods plan!

Untrue. Romney is under fire for enforcing the law in MA that required Catholic hospitals to provide the Plan B pill to RAPE victims in the ER, and that is not even abortion, but its close enough to cause a huge debate, even in the case of rape. For the morning after pill!

A couple years ago a Catholic nun who was a nurse was ex-communicated for participating in an abortion... the mother was severely pre-eclampsic and estimated to be 3-5 hours away from death. Not a voluntary abortion either, she and her husband wanted her baby... but her husband had to decide to save his wife or save neither. The Catholic church stands by it's decision to ex-communicate her, their stand is abortion is wrong NO MATTER WHAT, it is irrelevant that the mother would have died AND the baby's fate was sealed either way. That is the same mindset that is feeding this BS argument now over contraception (which prevents abortions!) when we have much bigger problems to worry about., Ridiculous!

"Rape or risk to the mother's life have never been issues when it comes to legal abortion. "

I wish that were true, but if you read the news you will find out that sadly, you are wrong. I think that if people were being reasonable about these situations and willing to compromise on what really the vast majority of us agree with there would be a LOT less fighting. Why on earth the super-extremists (both sides) who seriously represent 5% or less of us normal people on BOTH sides of the abortion debate is beyond me.

I'm sorry about the woman you know... she may have a hard time in the future facing her decisions now and she may even be having such a hard time now that may be why she is stuck in the same place. I would venture though that she is the exception, not the rule.

Yes! Don't make me pay for this. It's ridiculous. And, as a taxpayer, I don't want to pay for anyones Viagra either.

It is immoral, offensive, ethically wrong, and heinous to use abortion as a form of birth control.

This thread may be about abortion, but Obama is under fire for wanting employers to provide contraception, not abortion. Rick Santorum is especially vocal, saying that birth control encourages immoral behavior.

So apparently we should all have 8 children and counting like he does, that's the moral thing to do. For those who are not millionaires, that may be a hardship.

I don't feel I am responsible for ANYONE'S birth control. Period. If a person can pony up the money to buy beer, cigarettes, fast food, etc., they can da*n sure pay for their own birth control. Give me a BREAK. When are the slackers in this country EVER going to take responsiblity for their own choices????

People CHOOSE to have 8 children. If they can't afford them, then it should be on THEM to do SOMETHING about it. Be responsible. Good gosh! Why is the government mandating THAT????? If anyone NEEDS for me to tell them why, I'll be glad to.

The story about the nun is very interesting. How about providing a link so that I can read it and pass it on. Thanks.

Close your legs, it's free!!!
I do not want the government giving my daughter birth control for free. What Santorum was talking about is providing birth control like candy on Halloween will lessen the fear of what could happen if people sleep with whatever walks by. Birth control pills are drugs, they are not "healthy" for you. It is altering your hormones and causes many women a lot of dangerous side effects, including death.
No, he is not saying no one should take birth control, ever. Saying birth control is the first option is being ignorant. We should be teaching people to close their legs or keep their primary head in their pants.
Remember birth control only prevents pregnancy (and not all the time either, if your too stupid to close your legs your probably too stupid to take it correctly or use a condom correctly) Birth control pills do not prevent stds. If people take the pill and think they are good to go STDs will become worse then they already are.(which requires more government provided drugs so you don't die of Aids)
We are going to end up making our teens (or maybe 10 year olds if people think elementary schools should also provide these free to students) sluts and drug dependent carriers of all kinds of diseases.
This again is the government sucking you in for a life time of dependence.

I'm tired so I didn't edit my post!

Close your legs, spend less time sleeping around and get a job. Once you get a job you'll get enough money to provide yourself condoms or pills. Maybe then you'll also be an independent person (aka an ADULT) and you can get in a monogamous relationship and you can work together on life goals.(wow I'm in a dream world now)
