Mumbai: NCP chief and Union Minister Sharad Pawar and Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan on Friday met traders' representatives here in a bid to resolve the imbroglio over local body tax .

The third Hockey India Senior Men's National Championship will be held at the Shiv Chhattrapati sports complex here and Major Dhyan Chand Hockey stadium, Pimpri from May 28 to June 10.

The traders' strike entered its fourth day on Saturday, with unions claiming it to be 100 per cent successful, but several shops in city markets were seen open, though some through the backdoor.

On day Two of yet another indefinite strike against Local Body Tax , Pune District Collector Vikas Deshmukh went around the city on Thursday inspecting markets and asking traders to ensure that the supply of essential commodities is not disrupted.

On day 1 of the indefinite strike called by the Federation of Association of Maharashtra , malls in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad were open, but under police protection.

Most shops on Laxmi Road were found closed during Day 1 of the traders' strike againt local body tax on Wednesday.

A large number of retailers, wholesellers and manufacturers in Mumbai remained on strike for the third day Wednesday and their counterparts in Thane, Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad them as the stalemate over Local Body Tax - in Maharashtra continued as the state government did not give in to their demand.
