No BJP ticket for family members of sitting MPs MLAs

The Bharatiya Janata Party election in-charge for Haryana Kailash Vijayvargia on Monday said no family member of the party's MP or MLA would be given ticket for the October-15 assembly polls. Talking to mediapersons, Vijayvargia, a cabinet minister in the Madhya Pradesh government, replied in negative when specifically asked if Aarti Rao, daughter of Gurgaon MP Rao Inderjit Singh, would get ticket.

HC order on Vadra land deal Tuesday

The Delhi High Court will Tuesday pronounce its order on a PIL seeking a CBI probe into licences granted to Haryana realty developers, including one to Congress chief Sonia Gandhi's son-in-law Robert Vadra. A division bench of Chief Justice G. Rohini and Justice R.S. Endlaw will pronounce the judgment on the public interest litigation filed by advocate M.L. Sharma.

DM prohibits use of beacon lights

Use of beacon lights by the members of political parties, their candidates and leaders has been banned by the authorities till the completion of assembly election process in the district. Gurgaon district magistrate-cum-deputy commissioner Shekhar Vidyarthi on Monday issued the prohibitory orders, under Section 144 of CrPC, banning the use of red, blue and other similar beacon lights on vehicles.

Haryana CEO reviews poll arrangements

Haryana chief electoral officer Shrikant Walgad on Saturday reviewed the arrangements being made for smooth conduct of the October 15 assembly polls in the state, and apprised district election officers and returning Officers about various aspects of the Model Code of Conduct. Walgad, who held a meeting via videoconferencing with the officers, asked them to ensure effective implementation of the poll code.

Six injured in Gurgaon pub brawl

Half-a-dozen people were injured and one person was arrested following a brawl in a pub here, police said Friday. A fight broke out between two groups following an altercation over a petty issue at the Empire pub and bar in a mall located on the Mehrauli-Gurgaon Road in DLF-2 area.

Six policemen booked for Gurgaon custodial death

Six policemen, including a station house officer of a police station in Haryana, have been booked for the death of a youth in police custody, officials said Thursday. Sohna SHO Pradeep Kumar, Assistant Sub-Inspector Ashok Kumar, ASI Dinesh Kumar and two other policemen have been booked on charges of murder and common intent under various sections of the Indian Penal Code.

Man hangs himself in Haryana police lockup
