Sri Lankan Tamil hunger-striker in UK was not in hunger

LONDON: A Sri Lankan secretly ate McDonald's burgers while on a hunger-strike outside the British Parliament to highlight the plight of Tamils during war with the LTTE, it was revealed on Friday.
According to The Daily Mail, Parameswaran Subramaniyan, 28, had eased his ordeal by eating burgers.
The Scotland Yard surveillance teams using specialist monitoring equipment had watched in disbelief as he tucked into the clandestine deliveries.
The hunger strike and demonstrations had left the police with a $7.1 million overtime bill. The Scotland Yard made no official comment but senior sources said police decided against dragging the bogus hunger striker out of his tent for fear it would start a riot.
Police had mounted a 24-hour presence in the Parliament Square from April 6 to June 17.
Several hundred protesters were at the site every day with the numbers swelling to thousands each time there were fresh reports of civilian deaths during the Sri Lankan Government's offensive to end its 25-year--old civil war against the separatist Tamil Tigers.
Protesters were calling Britain to stop Sri Lanka from shelling the last rebel-held enclave, where thousands of civilians were trapped.
The Metropolitan Police, in a statement, said, "The policing operation for the demonstration within Parliament Square also catered for a number of associated events and protest sites.
This included an increase in resources for Prime Minister's Questions, the London Marathon, a march in support of the Tamil community totalling 110,000 people and protests at the Indian and Sri lankan High Commission.
"A total of 29,838 officers worked during the 72-day period," it said.
Around 80 people were arrested in connection with the demonstrations.(PTI)

It's amazing how some of these tamil idiiots can take anything ordinary or noble for that matter and
turn it up side down for their own benefit..ridiculous

They took legitimate grivances of the population and turned a "freedom" struggle in to a ruthless/ terrorist/barberic one.

They took the "Fast" which is one of the most noble methods of passive resistance and made it a mockery...to fool the westeners,Canadians etc..

They took a "no fire zone" that was designated for civilans and turned it to a free fire zone by moving heavy artilery/arms
and artillary amongst the innocient helpless civilians/human shields.

They took a liberal refugee system of the western countries and made use of it for economic refugees/human trakic/fund collect to their terror organization.

They took innocent tamil orphans.. raised them.. and turned them in to LTTE cadres and suicide bombs training centers/arms diposits.

And the list goes on on.. But this "Hunger Strike" takes the cake.. errr ' Beef ' Hamburger I mean ....

Hunger striker denies eating Big Mac

A hunger striker today denied tucking into a McDonald's takeaway during one of Britain's longest-running protests.

Tamil Parameswaran Subramaniyan, 28, fasted for 24 days after five of his relatives, including his mother, were killed in fighting in Sri Lanka.

He camped in a makeshift tent on the edge of Parliament Square, in Westminster, London, as thousands of Tamils staged a three-month demonstration.

The protest caused huge controversy in the capital as it sucked up police resources, disrupted roads and left taxpayers with a £7.1 million bill.

It was claimed today that police surveillance teams looked on in amazement as McDonalds burgers were smuggled to Mr Subramaniyan.

One source told the Daily Mail: "In view of the overtime bill, this has got to be the most expensive Big Mac ever."

But Mr Subramaniyan, a student from Mitcham, south London, vehemently denied eating any food during the fast, which he said left him seriously ill.

Speaking through an interpreter, he said: "This is a lie to break the strength of the hunger strike and the protest itself. It is not true at all.

"This has been planted by the Sri Lankan government. We have contacted police and they said they did not release a comment on this or anything about it.

"We just want to prove our innocence. We are totally denying this. It is false news."

The Tamil protest ended in mid-June after 73 days that included several hunger strikes, marches, mass sit-ins and people throwing themselves in the River Thames.

Senior officers were forced to bring in officers from boroughs across London to cope with the sprawling and unpredictable protest.

At one point more than 100,000 people joined a march and rally organised by the British Tamil Forum.

Surges in activity followed developments in Sri Lanka as Government forces wiped out Tamil Tiger militants, leaving many civilians dead.

Mr Subramaniyan's close friend, Sivendran Nadarajah, who accompanied him during his fast, said they are considering legal action.

Mr Nadarajah, a student at London South Bank University, said the hunger strikers were monitored by doctors who kept a log of their deteriorating condition.

He said: "He is ready to go to the courts to prove his innocence and we have started taking to lawyers.

"We are ready to file a case at our own expense and we want to see the evidence that he ate a burger.

"There were thousands of people there during the day and if surveillance teams saw it then others must have seen it too.

"The protest finished three months ago and this is propaganda by the Sri Lankan government to cover up further abuses in Sri Lanka."
