Croatia announces first swine flu death

Hope the victim was a serbian pig farmer from Krajina.

We've had a couple of deaths here locally in the last week and you can feel the panic starting. They can't keep up with the demand for the shot..the way they've rushed this vaccine through I've got not plans to get one.

Thx, I feel perfectly fine, can't remember the last time I had anykind of flu or viris.

I work in the healthcare field and with pediatrics, no less. In NY they were trying to force us to get the H1N1 shot...maybe it brought out my rebellious side more than anything else, but I refused it. I am exposed to 10-20 cases a day over the last month and for me, I'd rather get the flu. The H1N1 has less of a duration than the seasonal...we've been seeing very active cases lasting 5-7 days.
Stand firm, unless you've a compromised immune system...everyone gets sick occasionally and it's good for the body to fight off these germs!

Honestly, I don't know anybody who plans on getting this vaccine. Yesterday was the funeral of the 13yr old boy who died from H1N1 and his terribly sad death made people panic here. You should have seen the line-ups at the clinics set up to innoculate people, massively long.

God, it's the same here...people getting poked not only with that one, but the seasonal...I'll still take my chances. It's especially hard on the kids for some reason.

Like I told Ivan above, maybe because my city had such a high death toll from "sars" a few years back, people are more scared than they would normally be.

Yes, that makes sense. It doesn't help when the media/CDC gets the public in an uproar. I personally think this whole thing got handled sooo wrong!

The H1N1 virus or so called Swine Flu, is no laughing matter. The Virus has spread world wide, and it is difficult to contain the spread of the virus. There were several deaths in California and throughout the United States. The vaccine is not available to the general public as of yet. In general things have remained calm in the United States, despite media reports of new H1N1 cases. Even with getting vaccinated, it is no guarantee that the person won't get sick. It is sad to hear of the deaths in Croatia due to the H1N1 virus, and my heart goes out to the families.

But there is no reason to panic. But everybody knows serbian swines will get the flu more easily.

Ne mogu da vjerujem da ljudi mogu upotrebljavati tako grozne rijeci i zeliti drugome zlo. Sramota ko god je napisao da "se nada da je srpska svinja umrijela od H1N1 gripe. Zar ste spali tako nisko da nemate humanosti niti karaktera. Mi smo svi humana bica. Trebalo bi vas ponovo odgojiti i skolovati. Pokazujete koje zvijerke mozete da budete a tako isto ucite mladu generaciju da nemaju humanosti. Sta je doslo od nekadasnje lijepe zemlje i ljudi. Tocno me je sram.

tesko ce se toj vrsti virusa stati na put!
za tu vrstu bolesti ne postoji karantin jer su taj virus ljubomorno
cuvali kroz generacije i predavali ga ko stafetu s kolena na koleno!
ali ima nade i za tu vrstu bolesti ako se uzme u obzir da dolaze
nova pokolenja onda je ovaj oblik karantina dosta zahvalan s obzirom da smo svi daleko manji pa nas je lakse izleciti tj
zastititi od epidemije...p
