The office supply store Staples will host its annual Teacher Appreciation Day this Saturday from 9 A.M. to 1 P.M. In addition to sales on highlighters, pens and other teacher-friendly supplies, the store will offer five-cent black-and-white copies of school materials throughout the back-to-school season.

The Discovery Center of Springfield has plenty of activities scheduled for September, including a month-long effort to collect school supplies for the Salvation Army.

Close to 200 teachers from three area counties were given free school supplies, breakfast and discounts at Staples' annual Teacher Appreciation Day in Wilson.
