Essex Celebrates 'Burning Of The Ships' Saturday
That parade, which takes place Saturday at 2 p.m. in front of town hall, commemorates the so-called "Burning of the Ships" - the infamous day in April 1814 when British marines stormed the town and set fire to more than two dozen ships in the harbor.
