Casinos have second best February

Mardi Gras and Leap Day helped push the gross casino revenue to its second highest February on record.

The $110.5 million won by the Coast casinos in February was almost $1 million more than last February, but short of the record $114.2 million in 2004. The total includes an additional day's revenue for Feb. 29 plus the financial kick Mardi Gras brings.

After a disappointing January, the Mississippi River casinos roared back in February. January's revenue was less than $118 million, the lowest since 1998, but numbers jumped back to $143.5 million, the strongest February since 2004. Read more
