Backup goalie Yann Danis has to wait for his next start. The Devils activated defenseman Johnny Oduya and left winger Jay Pandolfo Saturday morning and assigned rookie winger Matt Halischuk to Lowell .

No shutout for Martin Brodeur, but NJ Devils earn 4-2 victory over Carolina Hurricanes

Martin Brodeur is still looking for shutout No. 104. Martin Brodeur will have to wait for his 104th career shutout, which will move him past Hall of Famer Terry Sawchuk, but there was enough satisfaction for the Devils goaltender in avoiding yet another tough loss to the Carolina Hurricanes.

Martin Brodeur stopped Detroit's Ville Leino in the fourth round of a shootout Saturday night, then Patrik Elias won it for the host Devils with a backhand that beat Chris Osgood , 4-3. The Red Wings rallied from a two-goal deficit to force overtime.
