One day after taking Eden Prairie defenseman Nick Leddy in the first round, the Wild tapped into Minnesota twice more during Day 2 of the NHL draft Saturday.

Dan Fritsche's Wild career was short, only 34 games. His time ended officially Monday, when the team failed to make him a qualifying offer, setting him free a little more than a day before NHL free agency starts at 11 a.m. Wednesday.

The Wild's prospects list just got a bit deeper. According to multiple sources, prospect Petr Kalus, who quit the Houston Aeros last October after being upset he didn't make the NHL club, is on his way back to the Wild and will attend the team's development camp in St.

The big trade Chuck Fletcher was looking for never materialized in Montreal, though he did acquire one player who no doubt will play a role for the Wild next season.
