Report: Wild Co-Owner Might Want In On Islanders
According to a report in the NY Post, Phil Falcone is mulling selling his share of the Minnesota Wild with the goal of purchasing a piece of the Islanders. Falcone, a hedge fund mogul and former hockey player at Harvard, owns 45 percent of the Wild, but has been at odds with co-owner Craig Leipold over how to cover the franchise's reported $20 million annual loss, the newspaper reported.

Jack Skille: I'm a stronger player now
Jack Skille is one of a group of new Islanders who probably thought, when they signed towards the end of a busy July 1, they had a better than decent shot to crack an opening-night roster in need of some overhauling. Of course, that changed by the end of business on July 2. Skille, Cory Conacher, Harry Zolnierczyk and T.J. Brennan all signed on the first day of free agency -- Conacher and Brennan both signed one-way deals for $600,000; Skille and Zolnierczyk signed two-way deals that would pay each of them $300,000 if they're sent to the minors and $750,000 and $650,000 at the NHL level.

Isles center John Tavares ready for season after healing from knee injury
Uniondale, NY, United States - New York Islanders captain and center John Tavares is excited for the season and said the injury he suffered playing for Canada at the 2014 Sochi Olympics is no longer an issue. Tavares was unable to play the last 22 games for the Islanders last season with a torn medial collateral ligament and a torn meniscus in his left knee.
