Another high school sports season has blown by, leaving us with only memories and history.

Stone wins gold: Whitefish Bay Dominican rising junior Diamond Stone helped the United States win the gold medal at the FIBA Americas U16 championship Saturday.

Nobody was going to wipe the smile off of Trent Mehlberg's face on Thursday. The Oconto senior first baseman went 4-for-7 with three RBIs and three runs scored in two state tournament games to help the Blue Devils win the WIAA Division 3 title.

Another prep sports season has come to a close for Manitowoc County with the very best in the county being honored at Friday's ninth annual Holy Family Memorial Rehab Plus and Sports Medicine sponsored Night of Excellence.

Katie Lang was on the short end of an 85-71 loss to the North all-stars in the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association Division 2 All-Star Game on Friday.

The most successful coach in the history of Sussex Hamilton's girls basketball program is moving on.

In the late 1990s and early part of this new century, the Nicolet boys basketball team would have great regular seasons, but always seemed to be trapped in enormously difficult WIAA tournament brackets, usually running into Milwaukee Vincent at the height of their five state championship powers.
