Whooping cough outbreak closes private school in El Sobrante

West CoCo School Closed Due To Whooping Cough

A school in West Contra Costa County was being closed Friday in an attempt to contain an outbreak of Pertussis - also known as Whooping Cough, health officials said Thursday night.

The name of the school was not immediately released by Contra Costa Heealth Services, which promised to publicly release further details of the outbreak on Friday.

However, the East Bay Waldorf School in El Sobrante posted a notice to its Web site Thursday night indicating that it would be closed Friday.
