Yes vioxx was a miracle drug, but it also was a death sentence for some. And it caused all sorts of havic. If the side effects were known earlier I am sure that people would still be alive today. Merck has been having alot of trouble with drugs lately, vytorin, gardisal and more. But they are allowed by the government to continue making great drugs, but not thinking of the people that take these drugs only about how much they could make off of it. It is pretty bad when a human life is less thought of then money. I thought these drugs were suppose to help people not kill them.

Funny how these "miracle drugs" work until they kill you. Varenicline is another one! The problem with these drugs is they can kill others too along the way. My heart bleeds for the people who lost their lives to these drugs not the ones who can't find other ways to deal with their health issues that are less dangerous to the general public. The FDA needs an overhaul! Most of all the BIG PHARMA needs to be HONEST about all the effects of their new drugs instead of hiding it and wondering is they are going to get caught!

What ever happened to personal responsibility? Quit calling on the government to protect you in every aspect of your life, or you too will soon find the things you depend on for quality of life taken away from you. Every drug has to potential to kill if misused, and there is no way to test the reaction that any drug will have on every segment of the population or with all possible chemical reactions associated with other items ingested by them.

Misused is the key word

Whatever happened to personal responsibility indeed. The CEO's of big pharma and insurance companies hide behind their company logo, lawyers, and the legislative reps they pay off. Oops I mean "contribute" to. If these people cared about anything but profit we would not be here. Yes, Vioxx worked for me. I had 2 compressed discs and horrible back pain for years until I started taking the drug. I was an average wieght, non-smoker with no other health issues. I used to bicycle long distance (up to 1000 miles in New Zealand). Then I started having ischemic events resulting in stents. I continued to take vioxx for 2 more years until I had an MI in 2oo4. I was still on vioxx when they took it off the market. Why? Because Merck execs decided to hide and/or falsify tests results. Those execs sure haven't taken personal responsibilty. To them we are just another cost of doing business. Personal responsibilty indeed.
