GenVec gets grant for herpes vaccine
Gaithersburg drugmaker GenVec , Inc. said this morning that it has received a $600,000 two-year grant to help in its development of a vaccine to treat genital herpes.
The grant is a Small Business Innovation and Research grant from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases of the National Institutes of Health .
It will be used to developed novel adenovector-based vaccines for HSV-2, the virus responsible for most cases of genital herpes.
