I wouldn't want to count on her as she doesn't inspire this golf follower.

Lord help the LPGA if it all hinges on Wie. There are plenty of quality players who have been around awhile and have proven that they can win. THEY are the future of the LPGA. Why do we focus on a non-winner?

PLEASE!!!!!

Stop trying to promote someone who isn't able to make the "CUT" half of the time. The LPGA deserves someone who has proven themself not someone who whis they could.

I just think her sponser must pay media to keep her name in the headlines, I agree with the opinions here today that she is over rated, we have Paula Creamer who has won 7 or 8 times, Morgan Pressel who has won 2 times, Stacy Lewis, a rookie and then Christy Kerr who has won and has been up at the top all year, and Angela Stafford and a few other americans that can t get any coverage, has to be Nike with all their money that gets Wie in the headlines...

“I think we have a strong enough product,” Wie said.“I think everyone out here is strong enough. I think the LPGA itself is really solid.

“My responsibility is to play well and to get that win. I think everything else will take care of itself. I’m just trying to work on my game and try to become the player I want myself to be and not what everyone wants me to be.”

From her own mouth... so stop trying to blame her for what others are trying to say. If the others were more of a draw, then we wouldn't be having this discussion. It's not wie's fault that the others don't demand intrigue/ Only Paula Creamer has even the slightest idea of what self-marketing is/// ala Pink Panther...

Michelle just wants to golf, and get her game back to the point it was at before she got hurt... she doesn't say that 'she' is the future of the LPGA....

Well, early on in her career you could lay a lot of blame on her but, not in the last year or two. When you have interviewers like Colin Callender, at the open, make comments like;
Quote;
When Annika was playing, she was the superstar and with her not playing, you are probably the one person in the game to be the superstar; do you feel any responsibility?

I thought being a superstar meant being a winner???(except for JR in NASCAR) I don't know who this Colin is but, wow, what a statement.
When you have reporters/interviewers like this clown the publicity will never go away.

What do you mean'earn their right'????? They don't just come over and start playing. They came out of the sub-tour or made it through Qualifying. They do not get any special treatment. Comparing the LPGA and PGA regarding foreign players just shows you how much more dedicated the American men are to playing profesional golf then the American women are. Right now the American women are not as hungary as the foreign women players are and therefore are not as competive.

In 2009, there are 122 International players representing 27 different countries.

In 2009 their are 21 rookies with full status, or almost full status, and only 8 are from S. Korea.

Nowhere does it say in the bylaws of the LPGA that the LPGA is an American tour. It just started in the U S. It is open to any female professional player. Do not blame the foreign players, get the American players to 'step up to the plate and get their game improved'!!! In fact a couple of years ago when the LPGA signed T V contracts with a couple of Asian networks the LPGA said that they proud that they were becoming an International organization.

A nineteen year old shown walking through the flowers. I suggest it might be better to show her "looking haggered" after five hours of practice.

I disagree, NCK. Sure, she did a lot of dumb things before and, in my opinion, still owes the other players, like Annika, an apology. But, she became a member of the LPGA this year and I have not heard anything badly about her, again, this year. She does not owe anything to the LPGA, much less to be held accountable for the LPGA failing.

All the hype generated by her father and bought into by the sponsors and her, took place long before she became an LPGA member. All her talk about playing left handed when she got bored afte dominating the ladies, her withdrawals, etc., happened before she earned her card.

Unfortuantely for her, she took shortcuts and bypassed some key elements (successfull amateur career) in learning how to win. But, I am also sure she is doing the best she can in trying to win now. I just hope she stays away from the nonsense of trying to play in the PGA.

Also unfortunately for her, this is her 60th start in an LPGA event and it looks like she will not win, again. After three rounds, she is 11 strokes behind the leader. Maybe next time...

NCK,

Of course, you could have been making a sarcastic remark and, if so, I can see why...

I posted this comment on another blog but they seem more appropriate her.

Interesting to watch Michelle here at Evian this year. She is quickly becoming a 'non event' and just another struggling 19 year old among several on the tour. I am revising my prediction that it will take at least two years of full time golf before she would win (no mental game) and will now predict that she will not even be playing within 5 years. If it were not for her parents pushing, she would be gone in less than two years.

Imagine Tiger wining his 19th major in 1/2 the time it took Jack Nicklaus to win his record 18th? How dominant would that be? No! that won't happen, because that time has come and gone. Although that's exactly what his buddy ROGER FEDERER did he won 15 majors in 1/2 the time it took former ATP record hold Pete Sampras to win 14. Check this out! Pete won his first major at age 19 and 49 majors later at the age of 31 got his record 14th. Roger won his first major at age 21 and 25 majors later at the age of 27 got a new ATP record 15 majors. How about Tiger you ask? Tiger won his first major at age 21 and 51 majors later at the age of 33 has 14 majors. So PETE-14/49, TIGER=14/51, and ROGER=15/25. From there first major win - To there last major played. Can any of you see the STAND OUT? As most of you saw Tiger FAIL at wining his 2nd U.S. Open in a row, you might now want to watch Tiger in New York as he watches his buddy Roger Federer in ENVY try to win his 6th U.S. Open in a row and capture his 16th major! No! Roger doesn't have a unique first name like Tiger or a golf last name like woods. NO! Roger is not African American and doesn't stand out on a green golf course like a Black Sheep, but SO WHAT! Am sure NOW you TIGER CHEERLEADER know who is MORE DOMINANT in his sport! & Roger is still only age 27!

Daily Horoscope for December 22

Scorpio

It will be easy to let things get on top of you today, especially if you're already feeling rather tired and listless. Do yourself a favor and keep away from anyone who often makes you feel a bit fed up or defensive, because they're the last person you want to be around at the moment. They'll make your spirits sink down to your ankles in a flash, and who needs that?
