A week after EU regulators launched an investigation into safety issues of overheating iPods and iPhones, another French user found himself with an iPhone flambe in hand.

The other day, Romain Kolega, an 18-year-old from Aix-en-Provence, said he had been injured when his girlfriend's iPhone went 'crackle and pop like a deep-fryer' and sent shards of screen into his face.

Another instance of an exploding iPhone has been reported in France, following previous, similar incidents across France, Britain, Holland and Sweden.
