The above article is excellent but will the Mugabe Party and Tsvangirai's agree to go by it. The is need for a mediator to be identified but he /she should come from SDC or UN for these are the organisations that Mugabe can listen to apart from his ineffective friend Mbeki.

That seems to be an argument that goes full circle.

In paragraph 1 you:
Blame the West for Mugabe's rule.

In paragraph 2 you:
Point out Mugabe's cruelty towards his own people.

In paragraph 3 you:
Blame the West again.

In paragraph 4 you:
Point out that Mugabe isn't just cruel towards his own people, but also to whites.

In paragraph 5 you:
Blame Morgan Tsvangiri for not speaking out against Mugabe's brutality earlier.

In paragraph 6 you:
Point out that Tsvangiri will be no better than Mugabe. OK, OK but what options do you have???

In paragraph 7 you:
Blame Morgan Tsvangiri for political violence.

In paragraph 8 you:
Indicates that Zimbabwe will merely swop one dictator for another.

Hasn't it always been the problem that has held Africa back, swopping one dictator for another.

All want to do good initially, but then end up corrupted as they don't have the moral strength to withstand the tugging of personal greed.

Fact is that ANYBODY is better than Mugabe at this point. The fact that you guys cannot elect competant leaders for yourself is why our crime wave here in SA has increased significantly since 5 million of your compatriots are here.

Most do crime to survive.

But tell me, what do you want????

Do you rather want to be the leader, so that you can be corrupted?????

Or do you want South Africa to govern you, as it is starting to seem as if you are unable to govern yourselves.

I mean we are looking after 50% of your population already.

Morgan Tsvangirai and the West are complicit in Mugabe’s genocidal rule. In the early 80s, Mugabe exterminated 20 000 innocent villagers. The international community neither intervened nor chastised him. They rewarded him instead.

Scotland’s Edinburgh University, University of Massachusetts and Michigan State University awarded Mugabe honorary degrees in 1994, 1986 and 1990, respectively. In 1994, Mugabe became the Knight Commander of the Order of Bath, knighted by Queen Elizabeth II.

Zimbabwe’s “genocide” grabbed global headlines only after the post-1999 killings of 300 opposition supporters. But now these killings included about a dozen whites. The dictator had also started repossessing white-owned farms to give to landless black peasants.

With unprecedented global moral and material support, Morgan Tsvangirai, leader of the Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) and the West's blameless darling, still failed to unseat Mugabe. Why? Zimbabwe’s political juggernaut is about failed leadership and unsuitable political character. So much has been said of Robert Mugabe, so little of the MDC frontman. Truth is: Tsvangira is Robert Mugabe in democratic disguise.

He was a fully subscribed member of Mugabe’s Zanu PF party during the 80s Zimbabwean genocide when the dictator killed 20 000 innocent villagers. He even held the rank of "political commissar". He never spoke out. As recently as 2004, he confirmed that Mugabe was his hero (The Independent (UK), June 20, 2004). His dictatorial rule split the MDC in 2005 and hence the opposition could not form a united front during this past election.

Zimbabweans in Zimbabwe know these unspoken truths and hence refused to give Tsvangirai an outright victory. If anything, the result shows that the dictator still has a lot of clout and cannot be easily brushed aside. The lesson for the rest of us is that: someone's dictator is another's hero-for-life.

After the re-run, things will definitely change with Mugabe's departure, but the will stay the same. While Mugabe represents the last detour toward Zimbabwe’s final descent into hell, Tsvangirai represents a false beginning. One hopes that the international community will not let Tsvangirai suppress Mugabe's undying supporters when and if he wins the next election and becomes president.

Parow, my second comment was published by mistake: it's just a repetition. Please ignore. You make an excellent analysis of my input in your first response. Your second instalment is nothing but an out-gushing of xenophobia. I'll not waste my precious time on it.

My commend tried to advance two arguments: 1)The West, the British Monarchy included, cuddled Mugabe when he was already a vicious dictator, and the same thing is happening with Morgan Tsvangirai. 2) Zimbabweans have very little power over their own electoral process!!!

It is unfortunate that South Africans who do not have an idea about their own history ,statistics and ternds want to blame Zimbos for crime.South Africa has always been a crime hotbed since the 80s long before the Zim "crisis".A recent study showed that 99.5% of the 160 000 people in South African prisons are South Africans. The present crime issues in South Africa are a creation of teh previous Boer regime who gave arms to blacks to fight each other. If Zimbabweans are teh cause of crime why is it that Zim has some of the lowest crime statistics in the world.

Actually Zimabbweans are contributing to the devlopment of the south African economy by providing qualifie personnell to all sectors of teh economy.Out o fteh 1100 quota permits issued so far by home affairs ,75% have come from Zimbabwe.

In short crime is a South African issue and you guys need to solve it rather than expressing xenophobia which is no solution to your problems

The Boers gave arms to the blacks in Soth Africa to fight each other.

ha,ha,ha,ha,ha,

lol

shit man

ha,ha,ha,ha

Where do you come up with this precious little titbit of shit.
Come on give us a link to your source and don't me me a link to www.yourbrain.com as we know that is up to shit.

Gave arms to the blacks. ha,ha,ha.
Only an idiot such as yourself can come up with something like this and have it makes sense in their little pea brains.

For whites to give weapons to violent black men, makes no sense. Sure they could kill each other, but they would more than likely have killed white men with the weapons and wrecked general havoc much like they are doing today.

Your logical deduction capabilities is astounding in the infantile levels that they are capable of.

Furthermore you go on to say what wonderful people the Zimbabweans are, as their jails are nearly empty when compared to South African jails.

I can see you've really pondered(sic) this point.

Let me enlighten you. have you ever considered that the Zim jails are empty as the Zim police are totally ineffective. They are in no way concerned about enforcing law as we know it in first world countries, as all they are interested in is serving as Mugabe's private army.

face it 5 million Zimbabweans are seeking refuge in SA. Some of them are educated, but THE VAST MAJORITY are unskilled.

It makes sense that 75% of the 1100 quota permits are issued to Zimbabweans as they are just about the only group of people that want to move to SA.

If the were so highly qualified then 100% of the quota would have been given to the Zimbabweans, as education levels is one of the main criteria for qualifying for this.

Even shorter: "You suck"

The latest from Zim: The (regime-controlled) electoral commission says it might take up to a year before a re-run for the presidential poll will be held.

Well, there you have it. All you optimists thinking 'democracy' will prevail in Zim, take note. As long as the ruling perp of a Black African state has the will and the barrel of the gun, he will RULE through the barrel of the gun. Mugabe and his terrorist henchmen,- like the ones here in SA, too,- have always said that they'll hold power 'through the barrel of the gun', and that is what they still do, thirty years later. No change, no surprise.

So I don't think one needs to get TOO excited about the 'after' Mugabe yet......

Zimbabwe after........subsistence farming, no real infrastructure, most people living like they did 100 years ago.

Government elite using the little money the country still generates, to ensure that they at least still maintain a good lifestyle.

"AU chief Jean Ping says he has been assured that round two of Zimbabwe's presidential elections will unfold "in peace and transparency"."... LOL!
