The patriotism from the overseas Chinese have already shown that those who have direct contact with the west have saw through the thin veil of western "democratic" mask. Many in China are still unaware and naive, the number however are shrinking fast thanks to the internet. wow, what a theory.. I and my friends here laugh to death... thanks Zsari...

You will no longer laugh when you finally step outside of China and take a real look at the world. You should, and I hope you do.

So its becoming almost a bi-annual ritual now. I'm more than impressed by the drastic changes happening in China, economically and politically. It is certainly not the China in 80's that today people can say whatever they are thinking in public out loud. If you run into any Taxi driver in Beijing, you'll be sure to get an earful of their complains, anything from economics to politics.

my girlfriend wanna say something "the meaning of patriotism since your time have changed, reading your posts, you are so defensive about the communist party let alone critise them. the true patriotism is to critize the govt of their wrong doings in order for them to improve"

I was taught the meaning of patriotism by the great uncle Sam when I move to the state at an age of 15. So how is patriotism in China, I really can't say. The Chinese government is certainly not perfect, and it is not even remotely communist, but looking back at Chinese history, the current government has done much to raise the nation from ashes. It certainly can be compared positively to great dynasty of the past at the height of Chinese civilization. The young generation are far too removed from the past to understand that China's rise today is an opportunity that would not present itself again, and that is could easily be shattered, moreover the US government is doing everything it can to accomplish just that.

So if you don't want to go back living in the horrors of rationed food, chaotic unrest experienced by your parents, don't rock the boat that floats you and don't bite the hand that feeds you. The western styled governance would not bring anything to China but chaos and misery.
