We have thousands of Zimbabweans coming into South Africa everyday. Many of them have no intention of leaving. They crawl under barbed wire and swim through crocodile infested rivers. Some go plead at European embassies for assylum.
Maybe you didn't flee Zimbabwe but there are many who did.
As for redistribution of wealth, wealth is something that is created. It's not a piece of cake of certain dimensions that must be cut up and shared equally. It is something that is earned through hard work and education. Look at a country like South Korea which has the 4th largest economy in Asia. Their success is due to a highly skilled work force and a competitive education system.
If you had to take all the money from the whites in Zimbabwe and give it to the blacks it would still be a drop in the ocean.
When people stop having more children than they can afford to look after, when parents ensure their children get a decent education, when people learn skills and use that to earn an income and pay taxes (and the government uses it for what it is supposed to be used for), that is when the quality of life will improve for tha majority.
Inequality is not always a product of injustice. Sometimes it's just a product of certain people who do all the wrong things. They then use their failure as an excuse by claiming injustices to take from those who have worked for what they have.
Why are you talking about the redistribution of WEALTH? If I mentioned wealth, I stand corrected. Redistribution of land is what I mean. Through this, many stand a chance to create wealth. The figures speak for themselves. The minority whites had the marority share of the arable land. Surely you cannot deny that. If people were apportioned that land and failed to make something of it (as is evident today), there is noone to blame but oneself in that case.

Given the current state of affairs in Zimbabwe, are you suprised SA is burdened by Zimbabwean asylum seekers? The British borders are shut - Hell, getting a visa is a lottery and SA is now a visa country. There is very few hiding places for the majority of people in Zimbabwe. Despite all, no one deserves to experience this in life. Its ugly..I agree wholeheartedly with you on some of your proposed solutions to this crisis. Believe me; I still have some contacts in Zimbabwe, some I worked with who are now influencial (or shall I say, claim to be in the loop) in tomorrow's Zimbabwe. The ideas are there and so are the evidence based plans. What is lacking is the ignition, gvt backing and a safe enough environment to spread the wings. Its dire back there. Deepest darkest Africa....

I have seen people posting from Zimbabwe on Topix before. That was while back and it's possible they have banned Topix since.
One guy became very suspicious when I asked him a few questions about what it's like to live there. I think he feared I was Zanu PF spy or something. It's a terrible thing to live in fear.
Sad but true. Topix was listed as one of the websites banned in Zimbabwe. I only wish I could reference the source but my memory has yet again let me down. Age I supposed. Indeed, people get spooked if you ask too many questions. The Central Intelligence Officers (CIO) are all over. If only they worked tirelessly to keep the populace safe one could justify their existance. Unfortunately all they do is worked against those they swore to serve and protect.

I agree with you that wealth is about hard work education etc. you have missed out one important point EQUAL OPPORTUNUITY. In your country there was no equal opportunity and as a result thousands of Azanians missed out, that is why you have affirmative action now. I do not agree with affirmative action as it breeds amongst many other things corruption and skills wastage. Lets cut the crap in Southern Africa whites have the best land this inequality needs to be addressed.

yes the coloureds may have forgiven and forgotten. but only cos the blacks are doing to them exactly what the aparthied whites did. in fact, they are now worse off under the black regime.
i happen to consider myself african. i am white and obviously of euro heritage but i was born here, my parents were born here and their parents were born here. i have never lived anywhere else. why on earth would i consider myself a european?
where do you get off going on about why or how do we consider ourselves african? we're here, living, contributing. you are living in EUROPE and im sure leading a very cushy life... you know... electricity, water, commodities.
and ya, by what measure are you 60/40? and why are you not so proud of your euro heritage?
You say coloureds are worse off under ANC rule than under apartheid that is a disgusting insult to all those coloureds who lived under the former regime, you forget that under apartheid South African coloureds were oppressed, dehumanised and suffered many indignities their rights were very limited the ANC is not perfect but at least under the current regime coloureds enjoy more rights and freedoms which were denied to them under apartheid.

You call yourself an African how many real African friends do you have, do you mix with the real Africans do you speak and African language do you know anything about indigenous African customs and traditions a lot of Afrikaners call themselves African yet they cant even stand blacks and look down on them so why are they calling themselves African then. Why they deny their European heritage and why do you deny yours.

And one more thing I did not say I a not proud of my Euro heritage it was in fact the opposite.
