Shame on China. They should have fight with someone their same size. They did advance into a couple villiages in Vietnam but it was a high price that they paid. Lots of them didn't make it back home and many wounded.

They did invade North Vietnam for about one month and withdrew. They did that to "punish" Vietnam for poorly treating the ethnic Chinese in Vietnam and invading Cambodia.

Yuehs are the small ethnics of China (they were the robbers in the south region of China),

so Yuehs(vietnamese) can not beat China.

Yuehs are the treacherous people

Dan,

Yueh is Viet in Chinese. They are the people living in Southern China and current day Vietnam. Same gene, same skin color -- the main difference is the language.

If you want to learn more into this, research 100 Yueh. According to the history, current day Vietnam is 2 Yueh tribes out of 100 Yueh tribes. I believe the two tribes were "Au" and "Lac" tribes where we combined to form "Au Lac" nation (Vietnam).

I think.... Yes, Vietnam "can" beat China. If you mean by can as in being possible, then yes, Vietnam can win against China in a War.

Let not talk about the wars. Let's talk about economics. Can Vietnam win China in economics? Vietnam is way behind China in economy.

Yeah Dan. Vietnam can win China in economics. Although China's economic growth rate and GDP are way ahead of Vietnam... I predict that if China keeps bullying its neighbours (like vietnam and japan) and creating bad relationships with other countries (like US), sooner or later, something will happen, like all these wealthier countries will slow down investment in China and begins investing in Vietnam. Like today, I just purchase my first pairs of shoes (prada and nike) made in Vietnam instead of China.

Also, if China starts to invade Taiwan, and the US steps in to fight with China, Vietnam will have the opportunity to get ahead :)

Anyway, I'm thinking of all these scenarios of how Vietnam can get ahead of China.

Good for you for buying Vietnam made products. I brought my first pair of Reebok made in Vietnam and they are so comfortable. I actually try to buy product that are made in Vietnam more, but it is very hard. For 100 products out there, maybe less than 1% are made in Vietnam.

As a Chinese myself, I read a lot of Chinese newspapers. I think China will not invade Taiwan. Taiwan would really have to push it in order for China to invade Taiwan. VN must invest in road infrastructures and increasing the level of education by sending out more students aboard to compete with China. China is growing at double digits annually. VN growth is impressive, but it was at 8.4% last year.

By the way, I haven't heard from you for a while. Have you graduated yet? Have you found a job? Regards to you.

Here is a video for everyone. Ho Chi Minh City definitely needs more of this kind of investments and buildings to become a modern world class city.

Hey Dan:

Thanks for the concern. I have graduated and now a salesman. I'm looking forward to becoming a stock broker for EJ (one of the biggest financial firms in US).

Remember it's not about your racial background, but who you are that determines your success.

Currently, I'm selling phone service for Rogers, but in a few weeks, if I get past next week interview, I'll be selling stocks :)

Dan, keep in touch. I can be your stock broker.

Daily Horoscope for December 26

Pisces

Mercury's retro phase in Capricorn will raise questions in your mind about a friend or loved one during the next two weeks. You might wonder what they're playing at and have to ask them to be straight with you, or you could work hard at overcoming the current problems between you so you're able to enter a much more positive phase in your relationship.
