hi Kamila,

Thanks for writing to me. Yes I did check with Uzb.embassy and they told me that I wont have any problems leaving Russia. but what makes me worry that when I asked them to give me some kind of documents proving that, they refuse to do it. My family now staying in Russia and they are russian citizens. Only me alone left with uzbekistan passport. Anyway thank you for your concern.

Hi Julia, my wife is Uzbek and her OVIR visa expired. Only a slight problem if returning to Uzbekistan. Need to renew visa before you leave. Other countries not interested in OVIR visa. We travelled from UK to Turkey on holiday with no problems. Phone Turkish consulate and ask if you are worried

Sorry for the delay, I was busy responding to nonsense posts in another thread. I should of done this post, rather than posting other junk. Anyway here you go, it is lengthy, since I am going to explore several options, since I am unclear on the following,

1. Is your wife from Tashkent? Meaning, she has propesca (residence of a city). The rule varies for a different city.
2. She applied for PV visa (private visa)?
3. Which country citizenship you hold?
4. What country you reside in?

I am sure you have not been yo UZ or you have been there once or twice, because if you have been there, you would know the complexity about the visa situation.

I also think she doesnt have ZAKS in her passport. Zaks is a marriage stamp in her passport, issued after you two have been married in UZ. And you cant get married in UZ on a Tourist visa, only PV B2, E etc visas.

Now, if above is true and she doesnt have ZAKS, than she can apply for PV visa, as a friend who is visiting her.

Process: She takes your passport copy, and goes to her OVAIR (dont worry she knows it well what that is) and get a certificate (can take up to 40 days), head to Ministry of Foreign Affairs and apply for visa (usually 2-3 weeks), the MFA sends telex to where you reside, and the visa is issued.

Now this is how it SUPPOSED to work, I have seen people where it takes months and still no answer.

By the way, why do you want to go there on PV visa, lots of hassle and wait? Why not go there on B2 Visa or Tourist visa, at least you will get the answer in 14 days.

Residency permit, good luck, really I mean it. I am just setting your expectation. It is a lengthy process, and ONLY if you are officially married and she has Zaks in her passport, maybe couple of years.

UZ visa, registration process is confusing. Trust me, I am in the USA, and been there many times. I have it tweaked, and my network is vast with great connections, and still I pull my hair at times.

By the way, depending on your passport, dont expect the visa for more than 3 months, depend which embassy issues it, even if MFA gives it for 3 months, the individual embassy/consulate depending on the location cut the visa time frame based on the country location the visa is issued.

Now, getting back to Tourist visa, certain countries need LOI Letter of Invitation, that is why I was asking for your passport info. B2 visa, all countries need LOI, and it is issued, by the firms in the UZ..

Now here is another puzzle o consider, on T visa you CANNOT stay in apartment or private housing. ONLY hotel.

Please take this seriously on where you stay and register, it is very serious and a person does get caught and fines are in thousands of dollar. Obey their law and you will be alright.

post any other questions you may have.

She is in Tashkent? If so, a quick trip to MFA and do the inquiry. If you need to go there beforehand, business visa is the fastest, so you can stay with your wife in a private residence and register.

You should go apply for residency, soon as you arrive.
