Who protect workers rights, pay and conditions etc?

It's all very odd.

Unions are there to see we workers don't get the piss taken out of them, but then again, mothers are some unions who tend to side with the employer over disputes and are somehow afraid of the employer.

Corruption and wrongdoing are still not a thing of the past, things have got better under Labour, but much of Labour's good work has been undone by this farcical coalition who nobody voted for.

The Conservatives have created this ridiculous 'scrounger nation' saying and labelling.

The real reason some hate unions is because it means they can't as easily treat workers like crap and under pay workers.

Can you imagine, had Labpur not set a minimum wage, where folk would be now?...

Probably still on the like of 3-4 an hour.

yes they set up the minimum wage, then opened the borders to cheap eastern European labour to ensure that millions of British workers received the minimum wage and no more.

they've done ever so much for the working man!

I grew up under Thatcher and can only remember hard times where schools were decaying, hospitals likewise, there were far less rights for workers until Labour came to power.

Foreign or not...everyone deserves a minimum wage.

yes but when the former communist countries of Easter Europe joined the EU,only Britain and Ireland(i think) give them total rights to freedom of movement.EVERY other country put a block on it for several years.

good move eh? especially if you wanted to keep wages down, like one of their policy wonks admitted after Brown lost the election.

looking for his name now.

Trade unions leaders are commies lining up their pockets.
All they know is to inconvenience the public with silly strikes, and brainwash workers they can obtain something for them.

Of course I do, but if it were yourself in one of these poor countries I'm sure you would wish to better yourself ...and I would not blame you,its only human nature.

But I do think immigration and benefits to those who come here without a job or financial security should be almost stopped...

I say almost as there are some genuine cases of kids being orphaned through no fault of their own,

Sadly, many come here to play our welfare system, but that still does not mean I would pay a foreigner less than a Brit, work is work.

I doubt you would like it if say you were taken on a job in say Spain, but you were to be paid 7 an hour less than your Spanish colleagues.

So is it your belief that ruthless employers be allowed to pay workers a pittance with no rights?

nowhere have i suggested that foreigners should be paid less than British workers.what i am saying is that New Labour opened the borders to workers from poorer countries in the full knowledge that these workers would undercut British workers.disgraceful behaviour from any political party, but from the party that claims to be for the working man of Britain,an unforgivable betrayal.

A pittance ? Ruthless employers ?

You are having a laugh, aren't you?

Train drivers, tube workers, airline staff, teachers, civil servants, and council workers are among the best paid in Britain, with good wages, secure jobs, early retirement, large pensions, etc... most of it coming from the taxpayers.

Yet, they strike at every opportinity and don't mind to paralyse the country everytime it suits their leaders.

Bloody parasites, the lot of them!

But of course it isnt as they just want slaves. If you wont do it then they bring in people who are underpaid from other countries. And then belittle you.The truth is they dont care about the people only about their own pockets.

Ah yes...gold plated pensions and so on, yes I've heard, but if you call 25k a gold plated pension then heaven forbid.

Airline staff....do you also mean the cabin crew are paid these 'great wages'?, I beg to differ there.

Council workers?...in what positions are they best paid?, do you mean the like of bin men, dinner ladies and library staff?

You will probably find they are on a wage of around 16k , some a good bit less.

Society is I. Tatters under this farcical coalition, maybe we should let prisoners and pensioners in care homes swap places...where the pensioners are abused in care homes and the prisoners are well fed and entertained in prisons throughout Britain.

So much for Osborne making it worthwhile for folk to work, taxing them on the minimum wage is ridiculous, as well as raising the working hours to qualify for WTC from 16 to 24.

The professions you listed simply are not well paid, bar pilots on planes, but then again they fund their own licences , lessons etc to get where they are.

We are turning into a nation of racists and haters.

Lets not kid ourselves, well before the EU, our gates were well and truly open to those form other countries without the need to be skilled or even have the funds to support themselves, perhaps you should take that up with Thatcher and co.

bang on.

as a British working class man,i cant believe there are still working class Brits who think New Labour are looking out for them!

its unbelievable,New Labour created a whole class of workshy benefit dependents, then imported cheap labour to undercut working class Brits that still actually work!

and NO this is not an endorsement of the Tory party, before anyone starts.

a nation of racists and haters? i dont think so,but if we are.....

i wonder if uncontrolled immigration could have anything to do with that?

could you kindly explain to me why you think it right that i subsidise local authority pensions, via my council tax etc.
