Wright's past, Obama's future

You nailed it Clarence. And you are so correct about how Wright will surely blame white racism for Obama's defeat. I can almost hear him already. Unfortunately about half of the south side of Chicago will probably agree with him.

I think you missed it, Mr. Page. The pastor appears to feel dissed by a young smart-aleck. Rev. Wright was merely putting Mr. Obama in his place for not being properly respectful to the elder who made it all possible for him.
Such a pity. Rev. Wright has done a powerful lot of good. |

It really is a shame that the some of the issues raised by the Rev. Wright are being dismissed and even ridiculed in the wake of his poor performance at the National Press Club. Incidentally, I attribute that performance to the "amen corner" that had asssembled in the press club and urged him to engage in the performance art histrionics common to his pulpit antics. The pulpit and press club are icompatable... But the grievances Rev. Wright expresses are not the illusory products of an embittered generation. TGhey are the reason tha tAfrican-Americdans remain on the low-end of all statistical indices of social well-being..

Just wait. The next shoe is ready to drop on Obama. And it's a two-fer: William Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn, the unrepentent terrorist bombers. How about the guest list at the coming-out party for Obama that Ayers threw? What about the pardons that Bill Clinton granted Ayers and Dohrn? Who instigated them and what did they cost? How many other former SDS and Weather Underground "alumni" are in the Obama camp? And how about the videos of the bombs set by Ayers and Dohrn; they're out there in the internet. When are the major media and columnists like Mr. Page going to dwelve a bit deeper into Mr. Obama's radical friends? Inquiring minds want to know.

1 Hopefully, Wright's past will ruin Obama's future. Let us pray. |

Clarence Page--
You seem to have forgotten the forced sterilizaton of Black women at federal clinics in the 1970's and 80's... Also, studies of drugs still do not routinely include Black folks; consider AIDS drug protocols from the 1980's and 1990's. Things have changed for the better since our parents generation, but I am always suspicious of folks who want to end any such progress by implying that we should be happy with the way things are. |

Anyway you "cut it" Pastor wright is a racist bigot. what we have all struggled with is the starkness of his positions and a realization that after doing as he asked putting his statements in "context" he is still a "racist bigot"
I am not an Obama supporter but feel bad for him that his "friend and spiritual supporter" is working at such cross purposes to his efforts to win the the Democratic endorsement and the general election in the fall, Reminds one of the old saying "with friends like this...." |
|

where did you get these "facts"?
it sounds like you are from the Wright school of creating legends and myths.

What concerns me is the implication by Al Sharpton about how the blacks will all riot if Obama does not get the nomination. I do not believe that Obama will win against McCain, but Clinton will. Do we nominate someone just to keep peace and lose the election? This is what Mr. Page is not addressing, we really have not come that far.

If "inquiring minds" TRULY want to know then they should get off their butts, do a little research, and discover the truth for themselves. But since we live in America "inquiring minds" are all too often more than happy to let someone else spoon feed them bits and pieces of the truth (usually to satisfy one agenda or another).
This a great editorial regarding the Obama/Wright affair. If you want to an article about Obama and domestic terroist then research it and write it. But do us all a favor and quit whining!

1 re-pu-di-a-tion 2.0: noun, 1. the act of refusing to establish or maintain an association with.[expected of everyone, except Conservatives] Billy Graham & Jerry Falwell have shared with Americans, the great blessings of God’s power, wisdom, and love, throughout the many decades that they’ve served as leaders of their respective churches. Each of these men have dedicated much of their lives leading programs that have fed the poor, cared for the sick, and prayed with those whose faith had been shaken by tragedy. To their credit, they’ve managed to maintain a healthy relationship with spouses, children and grandchildren, while their ministries required travel throughout the world… A portrait of service shared by Reverend Jeremiah Wright DISCLAIMER: Reverend Jeremiah Wright is Racists.[Clearly evidenced by his statements] Most African Americans would likely acknowledge the fact that Reverend Wright’s statements are racists, given that most African Americans would be outraged by similar statements from, shall we say, non African Americans. What makes this pill so difficult to ingest is the application of Repudiation 2.0, whereby an African American, specifically, Senator Barack Obama, is being called to disown Reverend Wright, because of his professed, and often poorly reasoned, opinions of Americans, both Black & White. As I said, most African Americans would likely acknowledge the fact that Reverend Wright’s statements are racists, however, Conservatives’ application of Repudiation 2.0 is, in a word, Unacceptable Billy Graham was recorded [noted quoted, but recorded], while conversing with former US President Richard Nixon and with whom he shared a very close relationship, noting his obvious disdain & distrust of Jewish people: Graham:“I go and see friends of Mr. Rosenthal at The New York Times, and people of that sort. And, I don’t mean all the Jews, but a lot of the Jews are great friends of mine. They swarm around me and are friendly to me, because they know I am friendly to Israel and so forth. They don’t know how I really feel about what they’re doing to this country.“ Nixon:“You know, it was good we got this point about the Jews across…The Jews are [an] irreligious, atheistic, immoral bunch of bas****s. Sean Hannity and other notable Conservatives, after having adopted the tactic of plausible deniability, have refused to acknowledge the existence of this recording [as noted in the video below] and thus aren’t obligated to Repudiate Billy Graham and other renowned religious leaders who’ve made comparable statements against America: Jerry Falwell:“I really believe that the pagans, and the abortionists, and the feminists, and the gays and the lesbians who are actively trying to make that an alternative lifestyle, the ACLU, People for the American Way — all of them who have tried to secularize America — I point the finger in their face and say ‘you helped this happen.’”–on the 9/11 attacks John Hagee:“So I believe that the judgment of God is a very real thing. I know there are people who demur from that, but I believe that the Bible teaches that when you violate the law of God, that God brings punishment sometimes before the Day of Judgment, and I believe that the Hurricane Katrina was, in fact, the judgment of God against the city of New Orleans If Americans are going to asked to account for their relationships [ties] with religious leaders, then we must ensure that this standard is equally applied… Repudiation 2.0. I watched Rev. wright at the Press Club and I didn't see a man of God. I saw a man over taken by jealousy, envy and greed. He wanted to destroy any chance for America to have the first true African American President. He wanted his place in history. America and it's people be damned. Jerimiah Wright is NOT a man of God, he is not even a man, he is a sad, pathetic human being that now has to live with his words.

1 Jerry Falwell also once said "God does not hear the prayer of a Jew." When will there be comparable scrutiny of the faiths, churches and pastors of the Clinton's and the McCain's ? Surely that discussion will have a great impact on food and gas prices along with the war in Iraq coupled with the economy and America's role in the world. Obama has yet to realize that despite being half white by biology and mostly white by culture that he is only entitled to play the marginalized Black Racial card. Farrakhan and Wright already know that they can not say anything like white religious figures can get away with. A Christian church is supposed to serve God not America(Caesar) |

More distractions from the Clintons and the Republicans. The American public deserve to talk about the issues and we should force them to do so.

Mr.Page, I can't speak to Reverend Wright's motivations, but he is out of touch with my 14, 16, 19 and 21 year old children's generation. As I watch they and their black friends interact, I do not see any tension between races. If it exists in their schools they obviously value their friendships more than their differences. That is why young people are flocking to Senator Obama's campaign in droves--not merely because they believe in "hope", but because they are our hope.
