Crimean Tartars are treated as guests in their own homeland. I don't know how much patience will the Crimean Tartars have? The only solution for the problems of the Tartars is the reestablishment of the Tartar statehood. If it was possible for 500,000 Russians to have a state like Transdniestria, if it was possible for 450,000 Montenegrins to have an independent state like Montenegro why could it not be possible the establishment of the Independent Tartar Republic of Crimea? If Tartars can not take all the Crimea it will be a fair solution to divide Crimea: half of Crimea (70%) for Tartars and half of Crimea (30%) for Russians. If a Tartar Independent Republic is established in Crimea it will be possible for the 2,000,000 Tartars who are living in Turkey to return to their ancestors' homeland.

Crimean Tatars in Ukraine are Ukrainian citizens and an ethnocultural group in Crimea.

They are not the only group in Crimea.

Not all "Tatars" are "Crimean Tatars."

The total population of Crimea is over 2 million.

I hope Ukraine encourages integration of Crimean Tatars and other Tatars into national fabric the way India does of its ethnocultural groups.

Crimea is the historical homeland for the Tatars and it has been so for many centuries, my grand parents had to escape, nearly forced to leave for Turkey at the beginning of 20th century. Stalin exiled them with a cheap excuse (nearly same as Hitler's with Jews) into different remote countries and Soviets made them minority in their ancestral lands, an respected autonomy within a democratic Ucrania would be the fairest solution. Soviets' policy throughout the country always was to introduce different ethnic groups into a homogenously intact area, like settling many Uzbeks in Kirgizistan or other way around, guess why?

The genocidal tragedy at the hands of the Russian Bolsheviks that befell the Crimean Tatars should be taught to all Ukrainian school children and every effort should be made to give Crimean Tatars a strong voice in Ukraine's Parliament so that they as enfranchised as much as possible and integrated into a Ukrainian society that respects and celebrates rich cultural diversity, and in special remembrance of Crimean Tatars who were often historical military allies of the Zaporozhian Cossacks.
