Nicosia, a capital straddling two cultures

Full story: Maktoob Business

"A few steps take you from one culture to another," said Vedia Izzet, a Turkish Cypriot, speaking of her daily trips between the Cypriot capital's Turkish-controlled north and Greek Cypriot south.

Infact Greece is a Religion-State by it's constitution like Iran ,Israel and Saudi Arabian Kingdom..

See Mr.PM 's sworn ceremony.

How can a man of religion can confirm a politician's oath in a modern secular ruling system?

Greekness became like Jewishness...Religion and race united in a idiotic concept .

This concept never release the souls free ..

This makes Greeks ""Klephtocrats, live them in Philotimian world of idioticity and Lazyness ""

Greeks have no future if they get rid of CHURCH from tgheir daily lives .

Why?
2 Communities do not want to live together.
Turks don't want to live under Greek Cypriots rules..
They had enough bitter memories and massacres..
Soviet Union divide 26
Yugoslavia into 10
Even sudan Timor etc divided because the people has different races..
Tchekoslovakia divided,Belgium is on the way..

Why the world pushes Turks and Greeks live together on a small island, why?
It is not rational

We are secular we have solved the problem. In all States who have %80-100 Islam religion in the population,Turkey is the only Secular,Democratic,Social state of Law..

I have no hope for Iran and Saudi Arabia but in the Europeans Greeks can do it easly..

How do you know that the communities do not want to live together?
And what exactly are "Greek Cypriot" rules? Are they different to the rules of the EU?
It is easy to be secular when you no longer have any sizable non-muslim minorities to worry about.
Just because a polititian is sworn in office in accordance to his religion does not undermine the secularity of the state anymore than swearing on a bible or a quran in a court of law Oguz.
I would agree that the church in Greece does hold a lot of wealth, and in Cyprus for example they have come to an agreement with the government whereby they will need to pay tax.

That TCs dies at the hands of GCs is true. But GCs died at the hands of TCs and Turks so its not one sided so both sides have blood on their hands.

So according to your philosophy then you would agree,

1) The Karabakh should become an independent state.
2) Bosnia should be partitioned into Serb, Croatian and Bosnian states.
3) Eastern Libya should break away from Western Libya.
4) Iraq should split into Kurdistan, Sunni Iraq and Shia Iraq.

And do not think that the secularity of the state of Turkey is not under threat. Before Mr Erdogan calls for the overthrow of Mr Assad, and arming the rebels for the US, you should ask what will replace him in case the tide of fundamentalism starts to lap at the borders of Turkey.
Is Erdogan an Islamist or a Kemalist and what whould Mr Ataturk make of this situation in Turkey?

Nicosia has ALWAYS straddeld two cultures - It now straddles two countries.

Now that both Grease and pseudo-Cyprus are BANKRUPT it is a good time for Turkey to take over the southern half of the island as well and send the GC back to Grease where they come from.

Actually many cultures have contributed to Cyprus some have left more impression than others.
Turkey cannot take the south side. Our respective masters will not allow it.

Daily Horoscope for May 19

Cancer

Try to get out and about today because it will do you good to have a change of scene. Even you, a home-loving Cancerian, can start to feel stale and bored if you're stuck in one place for too long, so try to vary your surroundings as much as possible today. Social events will go well, too, and you'll enjoy talking to people who make you think.
