further to my naming and shaming of gabriel prom the other week ,me and my friend went to the pub last night ,now my friend had posted on fb that we were going out there for the first time since oct last yr ,well well who turned up there mr prom with his ex wife in toe ,obviously thinking he was a very clever hiding behind his wifes skirt tails ,thinking my friend would,nt kick off at him ,as i said to her not to let him spoil what had been such a good night laughing and joking with the gambians we know there ,but mr prom could tell if he did,nt get out the pub fast ,things was going to hit the fan ,if he did,nt leave the pub in quick time ,as i said to my friend ,she should feel sorry in a way for his wife or whatever she is to him ,that she has gone back to such a liar and cheat ,and she it would probably be in his wife,s best interest to go get herself checked out at the sexual health clinic ,as i advised my friend to do aswell ,because has she told me he did make a comment to her once that he regularly goes there for a check up ,to make sure he,s not caught anything ,now me personally if any man had mentioned such a comment to me ,id have run a mile ,and not get into any sort of relationship with such a man ,im glad my friend is now taking my advice and moving on in her life and will be happier im sure then when she was with this loser ,at least he saw her enjoying herself last night with our other gambian friends and not crying in her into her glass of coke over him ,as i told her he brought the wife to purposely throw it in face ,but it did,nt work ,he was the one that left within 5 mins of walking in to the pub ,and left us to enjoy the rest of the night .

Mandy, it's a good idea but do you think it could be open to abuse from people who just want money from their exes who they don't like any more? Just a thought. Very tempting though. and I'm SO tempted today after my very, very, very, ex Gambian texted me today and begged me for money!!! Not a How Are u, what's going on, just a text asking ME to call HIM as he had no credit. No change there then!!! So through the facebook page, they contact you to see if you'd be interested?? I must have a look at that. Right now, very tempting cos if he's broke, he could well be doing it to some other unsuspecting victim.

Mandinka warrior i agreed the truth u saying,There are lot more good Gambians out there. We Now have RED SNAKES IN THE RED SEA,AND GREEN SNAKES IN A GREEN GRASSES.But still we are having some of poisonous snakes in this forum and i will be naming them one by one.We have a Gambian Fugitive who ran away to seeked asylum in German because he have a problem with the Government,All he is doing now is to destroy the Gambian tourism so that he can start putting all the blame on the government but he will never get succeed. He never have even a single good heart for Gambia,he doesn't care even the poor innocent people dying of hunger or poorverty.he cant go back home to face the consequency because he knows we have the most hardest prison with hard labour, that why people get scare to go to prison and that why we having low crime rate. All mr Bakabi is doing now is emailing people telling them stupid ideas to use on this forum but pretending as he is quite. If people read my previous comment u will see that i have once stop a german woman who was BAKABI pretending,Every day you go on this forum you can see new names from different places but the same number of viewers on line,u can even count them.I am not here to impress any one like BAKABI by telling lies about my country. This forum will never go up to 50 viewers each day,Is the same types of people wasting their whole life on it because the have nothing to do but to slag Gambian people.

I wish the people who put stupid judgements up would just come out and speak up!!! I don't see anything wrong with what I said to Mandy (Mandinka warrior). Doesn't even make sense. Why is it MEAN for me to critisize my ex boyfriend who is a con man and liar??? I don't want any other girl to listen to his lies so what is the problem with THAT?? Does the Judge want to tell me or just want to hide behind judgements??

you need at least ten years and 20 trips over there to even begin to see what they do to people. you are still very new at 2 to 5 years. after that you will realise all those happy couples are not together anymore. which is long enough for those guys to have gone to europe stayed together just long enough to get there permanent stays ets. you will find out these women have lost lots of money. been left in debt or both. my advice while you are there. talk to people , on the plane . round and about. try and keep in touch with these women who are about to . or have just married. keep in touch with them . then you will see they are all left high and dry . do not make any mistakes until you see what happens to these women please

Sir J, this is sensible advice.. but there is a big question !..:
how can you tell the difference between someone who is trying to scam you and someone in genuine need of help, who will put any help you give to good use?
I ask this because i have been to Gambia several times, and like many others, have genuinely felt moved to help...
There are certain people i trust now because i have known them over a period of time and know their circumstance..
But on first meeting, how do you tell..?
Maybe this is an unrealistic question, because i wouldnt dream of helping someone in UK i didnt know,'up to all that', other than to give them a pound or two for whatever...
Still, not every visitor to Gambia has the time to spend in getting to know people over a period of time before they help.. and its good that they do help... but some 'pointers' would be helpful...
Incidentally, on my first trip to Gambia i had an overriding sense that 'nothing is what it seems'... which i put down to not knowing the culture...was it my 'sixth sense' working overtime, or paramnoia ? lol.

beat the syytem . the problem is you think you know your friends circumstances. but maybe you dont . they will tell you what they want . hide the cars and the flash clothes. they are very well practised. these are the people who work around the tourists. there are many poor people. very genuinely poor . but they dont have jobs in the tourist industry. a lot of these people walking up and down the beach .or senegambia have dressed in rags purposely. they have cars jeeps . you wouldnt believe it.how do you know your friend lives where he does ? this is a buisness he is running to you and another how many people.very profitable and well organised .collecting from you and lots of other so called friends. the juice man will tell you he needs 700 dalasi for his weekly rent . but he gets this 700 every week from someone.in fact a lot more than that as they will always find generous people who are tricked into believe his poor when his not people working alongside the tourists are not what you think. or if u wanna think it . go ahead cos am getting fed up of it on here

Binta do you personally know Beat the systems friends???? How can you make judgement and accuse everyone in Gambia of being bad and con artists.. You must have magic powers to think you have the right to make this judgement about every single man in Gambia. I agree that there are some badminded people there who are out for there own gain but this is the same everywhere in the world. You are a very bitter and angry person you say you are getting fed up with it on here so why continue winding yourself up everyday and disrespecting people??? It is wrong to judge everyone from your own experience. I too have had a bad experience but im too strong to allow this to make me feel hatred towards everyone in Gambia you make yourself sound very weak

Binta, sounds like youre having a bad day..?
It sounds like you have more experience than most with Gambia and Gambians.. and you sound pretty jaded .. which maybe after 20 (?) years experience you are justified in being...?
The people i know are friends and family of my husband.. They live in the same neighbourhood..Ive known them for five years, been to their homes, know their personal circumstances..
My point is that people visiting the Gambia need to make pretty quick judgements as to whether someone is trustworthy to help or not...
I am far from wanting to 'write off' all Gambians because of the actions of some... thats why i was asking 'sir'J', in response to his post, how a visitor to Gambia can know how to judge an individual in this respect..(differences in culture make this much harder..)
I reckon there is no easy answer to this...if there were we could share the secret and no one would get scammed..!
Obvious ones are not responding to 'hustlers', help those away from the tourist areas, established institutions etc (not that this is any guarantee.. lol)
But even so, it seems that certain people in Gambia (as elsewhere) will scam if they can, and are just as ready to scam each other.. and succeed.. so if fellow Gambians cant spot a scammer, what hope has the European who doesnt know the culture etc?..but at least that seems to indicate we shouldnt take it personally .. we are just easier to scam !

never have i said all gambians . but nearly all of the people working in the tourist area will trick you for money.they dont care how or by which route. this is what ive said and this is what i will stand by.i dont care what you think about me lucky escape you or anybody else on here. what they do to people in the gambia does not happen anywhere in the world on the same level of evilness as it does there.one day you will no doubt realise this for yourself. i hope your not too ashamed to come back and tell us.

beat the system . you can never truly know who is genuine and who is not in a any poor country. but the people outside of the tourist areas are not trying to make a living out of you and i think will mostly be genuine , inviting you for meals etc .expecting nothing in return . someone working around the tourists inviting you home for meals . there is usually something behind it
