Awww so sorry that this has happened to you, just hope he hasnt left you finacially in ruin.

Did you get married civil in Banjul or was a Muslim marriage.

I would email the justice marriage office in Banjul an enquire about you getting a copy, just be warned that this can take some time as they work very slowly in TG with paper work of any kind.

It might speed things along if you offer a sweetner ;) as money definately talks an you will be suprised how quickly things get sorted when there is money for them.
Good luck and hope all goes well.:)

hi
it was a civil wedding at a hotel so no it wasnt a muslim marriage. i just thought it went without saying that of course all my money has gone along with all the gold jewellery i ever owned, my kids xmas and birthday monies gone, along with my self esteem, confidence and having suffered a complete mental breakdown and losing my job. i have 2 permanent deformed fingers where he snapped the bones along with other injuries caused by him. i just feel so stupid but they really are clever clever people. he was fake just like the date of birth on his passport! any advice by anyone is really appreciated.x

So so sorry what happened to u. In Denmark we have a saying "what doesn´t kill u, makes u stronger". But u really had a rough time.

Am sorry to give u the advice to bribe somebody, but in Westafrica money talks louder than words, and surely will speed things up.

Stay strong and stay cool.

My best wishes.

Hi BC. So sorry to hear your story - you say his behaviour got "even worse"... what a shame that you didnt report him to immigration before he got his indefinite leave. However, could you not report him to the police for the violence? I would not only want him deported but I would want him to be in jail if that was me. Surely if you reported all this, they would take away his indefinite leave to remain? As long as he doesn't have a British passport, he could be removed from here. All the best.

i thought that once they had their indefinate leave to remain that it couldn't be taken away? i am currently receiving councelling as i have only just come out of the breakdown. i am trying to build up the courage to tell my story but if i can prove his date of birth is fake on the passport would that do it? but i also want to be able to get the chance to tell immagration my story and what happened to me but would they really be interested at the end of the day?

i would say get selfish here and sort yourself out first. it will do your head in to think about what you did or didn't do, did or didn't say etc. i am a true believer in what goes around comes around. his time will come, but in the meantime sort yourself out and look after your kids.

when you are ready, tell your story and see what you can do about him. his time will come but only when you are mentally and physically ready to deal with the past (what you have gone through), the here and now (how you go about healing) and the future (this is not about revenge, but making sure he doesn't get the chance to do it to anyone else).

i wish you the best of luck

It definitely CAN be taken away if you report everything that he has done to Immigration!! Yes, they would be very interested in your story. Did u ever report him to the police or take pics of yr injuries? Anything you can think of that would help your case, tell Immigration. He has no right to remain if he gets a police record by breaking our laws. He doesn't yet have his British passport and so if you can prove he has lied on his passport, been violent and that you are having counselling, it all would help. It's not about revenge, it's about justice and you may feel a whole lot better if he gets deported or cautioned. Stay strong and hope that we can do our best to support you on here. It may help if you register and then you can send private messages to people here. Take care x

hi, if he has caused you physical harm i would kick up a fuss with the police and immigration, write to your local MP about his coming here under false pretences, it sounds like a lot but you will have medical records to prove your state of mind and physical injuries and i think it would help your self esteem and make you feel more empowered to do something pro-active, you wouldnt want him inflicting this on another unsuspecting woman.

Well, I guess anything and everything is worth a try because these kind of people don't deserve a better life when they mess everyone else's up. Hopefully , the system is tightening up but I won't hold my breath.

my fake married 2 weeks after he got his indef but still had the indignity of telling me he didn't marry for visa.... lol.
bc is different though he has been abusive physically and hopefully this will go her way if she reports him. i would tell the local paper after reporting to the police and at least filing report for her own backup.
