Just moved back to the states in May.Was in and around BKK during the protest and so call politicol
unrest.Never felt unsafe the 2 yrs living in LOS(land of smiles).If you some respect and stay off the beaten path.You'll see apart of thailand that Siam was renowed for.

And the topic is it safe? I lived in the kingdom w/my two children (10&11 yoa)never once felt in danger ,traveled around the south and north by train,bus,POV.It was a great experience.
When the PAD closed the airports we donated kia and kao the them.
The stats you quote are isolated areas.A mate of mine lives in Yala pro. and has a young family would never live any where else.He could afford to move,and choise not to.
Thailand is a emergeing country w/more modern aspects then the states.
And at least they fight for their rights and protest the powers that be.(unlike here we just let them take our freedom)
