Evolution in action.

You might as pour your $ down the drain as to give it to these people. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out why Africa is so far unable to prevent the scourge of AIDS.

Evolution should be allowed to take its course in this country, and outside intervention should be discontinued. Stop the HIV drugs and let them die naturally.
Where to begin with this one?
No mention of having less children, sterilization, birth control or discussion of antiquated "tradition" to get to some of the ROOTS of transmission. It amazes me that prevention of more AIDS cases isn't the main focus. If they WANT to remain in the 3rd world....there is NOTHING that anyone can do about it until they desire it for themselves. |

Makes me wonder what the percentage is for the whole population there. anyone know?

Not to worry. O will save Africa too. lol !

I remember seeing a documentary on PBS about the WHO teaching women in Swaziland how to use a condom. No men were in attendance. All the women were laughing like little girls when the instructor fitted a condom onto a banana to demonstrate the proper usage. The majority of women commented, through their interpreter, that they would enjoy not being pregnant all the time but that it would probably be impossible for them to get their men to wear them. Having too high a birthrate in a poor county where children starve and where parents are dropping dead from unprotected sex and their children don't have much of a future leads me to realize that ignorance is not only stupid; it's deadly. Do I want our country's tax dollars going there to help? No! How can more help when so much has been given and it hasn't helped. These cultures are ignorant and do not care. If the caring wasn't shoved in their face, they, and their leaders, would do nothing to make their lives better. We have terminally ill children and parents in THIS country. Our government needs to help their own FIRST!

This should be no surprise, especially as that
country is not exactly up to the 21st century, and education there is sadly lacking. What should be a surprise is that in the US, through 2006, the population make up was white - 73% black - 14% hispanic - 13% Yet the rate of HIV/AIDS cases thru that year was white - 10,758 black - 17,356 hispanic - 6,481 A little skewed, don't you think? Just goes to show the result of risky behavior by certain populations, no matter where they live or how much information is easily obtained. |

What a shame. Nothing will ever cure this population; they'll be infected for eons.

I have never read anything as insulting as this! I mean I know that some Americans are racist, but this? You gotta be kidding really that even with the information that you "civilized" people have, you don't know that HIV was an imposed disease on these people. Please do your homework before we "Africans" recite history for you!!!
Please check the history of polio vaccine. There are so many questions about this pandemic that seems to be racial, class, and regionally biased!! really, we don't have Las Vegas or anything close to it in Africa, so who has lesser morals if?

stop giving them aid? right..... lets all point out that only 60% of Swaziland are employed (2006 estimate) and that employment there is just terrible. a lot of them live under 1$ a day. their main exports are maize and other agricultural products. yet with recent droughts, it is kind of hard how they can make money to target these things? how can they help bring back rain? do a rain dance? true they should ajust their culture which i am sure many do try and attempt, yet i would like to point out that rape there is a big thing. i would suggest you go to the country before you dismiss it as a death den. nature dosent really help them along and most want change. they want new leadership (removing some of the powers the King has). do you think that they like having to watch out who they sleep with? fine if your married then you wont have to worrey so much. but what happens when they contract it? im not saying they had an affair or anything but there are other ways of picking it up of coarse. do you stop sleeping with them cause you know its going to probebly get you killed?
i tell you what why dont we give a nice dose of HIV to around 40% of your people? see how well you cope withwatching your sex ;) |

I hope it dosent happen to anyone else but please dont say things like lets cut off their aid. you may as well shoot them. also there is many positive signs. go onto the swazi observer or Swaziland.com . places like tibiyo.com are perfect examples of strong buisness there. just the threat of certain aspects to the country pulls away a few investors.

I'm always sceptical of these reports. Do they overinflate statistics just so America will send more money?
i dont think America is to dumb to send money with in without its own reports. may be small charities but i dont think they bring in to much to the econemy. also i doubt Swaziland would want to inflate the figures as no country would want to show off about such high rates even to get some more money. even to ask for help is a big thing in any country let alone a rish cultured country like Swaziland.

1 There are several cases of Reasearch abuse in Africa, there is something going on. This HIV is a silent threatning epidermic and there is no way we can just keep quite about this. It has no reason to start from Africa, it just hasn't. Until we stop this foolishness about Africa as a Majo Domo for Hiv, I think the sickness will continue. Iroabuchi Onwuka |
