I like the picture on the BBC Tamil site of the Tamils seemingly leaving the war zone in their thousands with bicycles, motorbikes, vehicles and belongings in tow. My father visited the North soon after the war ended and saw those same cars and bikes burnt and scattered by the roadside, numbering in their thousands. How did they get there? The LTTE burnt all vehicles belonging to Tamil civilians so that they could not escape. I can't read Tamil so I don;t know what the accompanying article says. But I know that picture is actually of Tamils trying to flee the rebel held zone. They were stripped of their vehicles and forced back into the war zone. What a lovely bunch these demalu are.
