A dear friend and I were talking recently about the struggles many go through in starting a family.

Things happen for a reason. Maybe not the way we envision it. I have heard many stories that are the same as this one. Adopt when child bearing is not in the forecast and wind up having a child later. Why would that happen? I do not know.

I support adoptions to good homes. The system is flawed but there are some great stories out there. Why would an agency take one family over another is some times beyond me. It seems the better the home the less likely to adopt.

Good luck in what ever comes your way.

Like you said, love is not genetic. There is plenty of love to share.

I love this post. I know you know how much adoption has touched my life as well. How much I respect the whole process. After finding my bio mom I got an even greater respect, not only for the adopted families, but the bio mothers that are so selfless to give their baby the great gift of a loving family.
I did not know that story of you in school saying that you were Korean. that is soooo cute! love it

This was a nice story Nat. There are so many children that need homes and by you sharing your family's story, it might touch someone who was considering adoption to go forward. It's a difficult process and it's nice to see a positive story! Thank you.

Nat, What a WONDERFUL story. Every child deserves a loving home with caring parents. It doesn't matter if they are biological or adapted.

Thanks for sharing your story with us. Hope your happiness will help others to make the decision to adopt.

You and your family are very blessed.

What a touching piece! Maybe you could share with you friend that "Sometimes, God has a different plan." There are so many children out there who need a loving family, and maybe God considers her special enough to be a real Mother to one of them. I thought I would not be able to conceive and had been through all the adoption procedures, and waiting for a baby, when SURPRISE I found out I was pregnant! God's timing is not always easy to understand, but is always what is best for us!

When it all falls back to point zero, we are all of the same DNA. Creationist or Darwinist agree on this. It's Adam and Eve or Primal mud. Which begs the question put forth by the late Theodore Sturgeon (and maybe Kilgore Trout): "If all men are brothers, would you let one marry your sister?"

Maybe I would if Cain was Abel.

I ramble.

It's my way.

What a beautiful tribute, not only to your sister, but to all children who were blessed by adoption. I had chills and even tears while reading the love you share with your sister.
I know for our family adoption is still an option, even with biological children. Thank you again for such a beautiful tribute.

What a Great story Nat. Sounds like God blessed you and yours :-).

My 2 Granddaughters are adopted or partially so far. 2nd one was adopted right off at about a month old, However, the first one which just turned 4 yrs old is still in the adoption process. My Son and Daughter n law have had her almost 3 yrs and still waiting on DSS in Charleston and the court system to decide the poor little ones fate.

That is the broken part of the system. The time and cost. It needs to be simplified, but yet keep the child safe. Hope things work out. I am so amazed with couples that have the love to share with children by bringing them into their home. It is easier to adopt outside of the country than it seems to be inside this country.

A friend of mine already had 2 biological children and adopted 2 or 3 from Asia. They are great people.

I've enjoyed your opinion on adoption. The Lord have blessed me with two beautiful kids that are adopted also who are siblings. My daughter will celebrate her 11th Birthday 4/29/08 she will be having a sleepover for 8girls Friday (OH MY Gosh)She were 4 when my Husband and I got her. Now it's time for me to talk bout her brother that's 6 he came to us at birth and that's the happiest day of all of our lives.I've never had any kids of my own and I personally know it cannot be any beautiful than it is now. Also I'm a Foster Parent I have a 7 years old boy in my home at the moment he's a part of our family also.He will be leaving us soon we all will be sad again. My husband and I have been doing this for 8years now and we enjoyed every kid that came in our home. So far we have had 27 kids that came in our home I thank God for allowing us to give love to someone else.June25 the Lord will Bless me 15years with the best Husband in the world.(SMILE) Nat I'm not thrill about getting up early but I have to see you because you always makes me laugh in the morning.I'll see you in the morning.

I WAS LUCKY TO HAVE CHILDREN OF MY OWN BUT IF I COULDN'T HAVE WHAT BETTER WAY THEN TO ADOPT AND MAKE YOU AND THE OTHER PERSON SO VERY HAPPY. THAT IS A WONDERFUL THING YOUR PARENTS DID AND I WISH THEM MUCH HAPPINESS AND YOU TO. THANKS FOR SHARING THAT WITH ALOT OF PEOPLE.
