The research by Joe Farman , Brian Gardiner and Jon Shanklin confirmed the worst fears of scientists who had suspected CFCs could be depleting ozone concentrations in the atmosphere The British Antarctic Survey scientist Joe Farman, who helped identify the "hole" in the ozone layer over the southern pole, has died.
