Do white people belong in (South) Africa?

In countries where whites are in the majority (even when it is not their native country), they are often quick to say, "When in Rome, do as the Romans do" to people of other races and cultures who want to live with them.

We expect them to speak our language, obey our laws, respect our principles, dress like us etc. If they do not, then we accuse them of refusing to integrate, forming their own "sub culture", even label them as "radicals", "terrorists", or a "threat to society".

Is it not fair then, that white people who want to live in Africa should at least admire, if not respect, if not EMBRACE the culture, principles, language etc of the indigenous South Africans, if they want to live in South Africa? If they do not want to "live like the Africans", then should they be living in (South)Africa?

I know there are many indigenous languages and cultures in South Africa but most areas in SA are dominated by a specific tribe, so why do white South Africans refuse to integrate with them but insist on living with them?

The problem is that no one wants to regress, you understand "regress" mr anagogic. It means to go back , back to an inferior state. They have no culture to emulate, no literature, no records of cuvilisation, no history and no real achievements. What exactly is this culture that you suggest that we white South Africans should so eagerly embrace. Why do blacks come to the attractions of European Civilisation like moths to a flame if "their culture" is so desirable.
So why do you not ask the question ...."Do blacks belong in Europe"???? when once in a european environment they refuse to integrate, wish to retain their own way of life etc. There are two sides here if you have not noticed......

The same could be said to Americans, if they hadn't taken the route of pretty much wiping out the indigenous American Indians, thereby neatly wiping out any future problems. White South Africans, on the other hand, legally procured their land, while simultaneously respecting the 'indigenous peoples' tribal homelands. The tribes lived and thrived, freely practicing their respective tribal cultures, speaking their respective native languages, increased greatly in numbers, while also being provided with employment all over the rest of the country with infinite amounts of aid poured into these developing homelands, thanks to the white tax payer. At the same time these tribal people were provided with a western education, no mean feat considering that not too long ago they hadn't even discovered the wheel. From your vantage point it's easy to have romantic notions of the noble savage, but believe me they want to catch up. This however cannot happen overnight. When the process is artificially rushed, you have the resultant crime and corruption, bloodshed and mayhem as seen in South Africa at present. Naturally they are resentful of the white man's progress, and feel hard done by...they now want it all. Not even the Africans want to live like Africans, they aspire to live like the white man. It's hard for South Africans to have a discussion with people who's only skewed 'knowledge' comes from the media. Media that helped to bring our country down for their own hidden agendas. In the long run not only the whites will suffer, but also the indigenous tribes who relied on South African whites to take them through the process.

What they have been doing since the dawn of creation is surviving, just like we have. Invention is not the only way to survive, Cerberus. Have you ever considered that the act of preservation is also intelligent, when it ensures a specie's long-term survival? By living a nomadic existence, reducing their expectations and needs and travelling light, the African people managed to survive, with respect to nature and other animals. In it's purest form, this is something that we can admire about African culture - even learn to balance it with the great benefits of our own inventive culture.

Or we can continue to manipulate and change our environment, transfer energy at our will and force our needs on nature and other animals. I doubt whether any of us will be here to determine whether or not this was an intelligent approach to survival.

Although not an inventor a guy called Latimer worked with Alexander graham bell la timer was an African American and then there a guy called Charles drew who did research into blood plasma again an African American.

Mary seacole was a Jamaican doctress who helped look after and treated British troops in the Crimea war.
