Uhuru is a swahili term for freedom. Some people in the white SA community have taken this to be a codename for some operation to commit genocide against whites when Mandela dies. In 1990 when Mandela was realesed singer Miriam Makeba released a song titled "Not yet Uhuru". I have 100 rands that says the whites took this to mean that Mandela's release is not enough to placate oppressed & angry blacks. My question is where did this mythological future event come from. Anyone with a 100 Rand?

The reason is beacause of the respect the man has. According to African culture one has to respect the wishes of the eldest. That is also why Mbeki is not acting against Robert Mugabe.

But as soon as the leader passes away, they have to respect the wishes of the next elder. It is a very complicated system. Perhaps one of the black South Africans on this forum ca give you a better understanding.

No disrespect, but I think you are delusional. The reason Mbeki will not act against Mugabe is largely due to the fact, as nutty as the old man is behaving lately, during apartheid he helped the ANC and Mbeki father. It is not the easiest thing to turn on an old friend. Although yes you are right that Mandela commands a lot of respect I think you are wrong that when he dies there will be a call to kill whites. I think something is bound to give in South Africa mainly because there is anger and disappointment from both SA blacks and whites. Racism is also more rife than ever…

I read the letter, and i think that maybe your command of English is not so good. I just didn't see anything to do with genocide.
There is a part where the president says "Corporate SA should pay attention to the reconciliatory message in Bangani's letter" hey maybe thats inciting genocide. Or maybe to you just being near a black man or one f...ing your sister is ethnic cleansing. Im not sure we have the same understanding of what ethnic cleansing is.

In my opinion the current leadership of the ANC is very keen to create a large, black middle-class. I am sure they are aware that ethnic cleansing is a sure-fire way of destroying an economy.
They are also very proud of themselves for landing 2010, and I really can't see them supporting the mass slaughter of any of their citizens in an organized campaign.

I have to agree with Stolenangel. That is the key to stopping ethnic cleansing in SA. We have no choice but to grow the economy and create a BMC. In future politics I know that the BMC will be joined by the whites with the likes of the DA. Helen Zille the DA leader said that they are waiting for the ANC to split so that they can support the more central side & isolate the left. The difference in future SA will be the haves & the have nots. IF THIS PLAN FAILS THEN THE STUFF THAT BOERSUN & HIS COHORTS BELIEVE MAY NOT BE SO RIDICULOUS AFTER ALL, THERE IS ALOT OF BITTERNESS OUT THERE. I am a young white girl, from the Free State and i believe that apartheid will never go away.People from the same background and culture mix!Why would I want to go and talk to someone in a language I don't understand????Thats not being racist. Thats chosing who to befriend. Every colour of this nation can be friendly(not friends) without overdoing it, because it will never work this united nation thing!Have you guys ever seen squirrels and doves sitting together?NO! We can greet eachother and have respect for one another, without having to change ourselves.Nobody has to kill nobody!!
