I actually began smoking Newports when I was in the army. I was around many blacks and when I ran out of my Lucky Strikes I often had to bum a smoke until I could go purchase a pack of my regular brand. Of course when I had to bum my choices were a Kool, a Newport, or a Salem. One day, I went to buy a pack of my Lucky's and they did not taste the same. So I began to purchase Newports and have not been able to smoke any other cigarette brands since. I am a 2 to 3 pack a day cigarette smoker. However to curb this, I have began dipping more and I have gotten my smoking down to a pack or a little more a day.
I would also agree I do not like the stigma attached to smoking Newports. However, I have tried to smoke other brands but they just don't blow my skirt up... I am now conditioned to live the life of a person who smokes the choice cigarette brand of the North American pavement ape.
