Ethiopians are lighter they don't have big lips, wide nose or nappy hair. Just look at Haile Selasse, he is handsome he looks like a Hawiye Somali from Mursade clan lol... I challenge anyone to say he is a monkey or Bantu. He doesn't have a wide nose or big mouth but he believed in black unity. I'm guessing that's why Rastas worship him or think he is a prophet. But anyways you never hear Ethiopians saying "we are mixed" or "we aren't Africans, they're ugly as fxck." And you never see them mixing with other Africans because they are smarter than that. They are mediocre politicians... Other Africans look up to them, non-Africans respect them, Somalis envy them. They have their own writing system, they were never colonized infact they colonized other countries like Yemen and Saudia. They are such a cool people. Why can't Somalis be like this? There are 3 types of Somalis: 1)The Somali who sux Jareer peoples' nuts. And wear earrings like they are jamaican..Uff 2)The Somali who sux Arab nuts and Hindu nuts and dresses like a bollywood actor wannabe. 3) The Somali who writes on the internet that Somalis are not really African. We ar mixed or our own race 4)The sane Somali. Me, I'm a minority on the internet. I'm pretty sure Ethiopians are nationalists too and look down on Bantus but they hide it because they are smart. Why can't Somalis be smart too and hide their racism from public. Serious question.

But I also want to add is that you are funny.I think a lot of what some folks on here like you say.It makes me think of this 1903 Somali chant.I guess it explains a lot of things on the mentality of some Somalis.Gotta be proud ;)

Somali chant 1903

Will you see a man? Then behold me!
I am a Somali, as perfect in size and form
as Adam was, after God had breathed
into him his immortal soul. Look how
beautiful my curly hair is, and how majestic
I look when wrapped from head to
foot in my snow-white or jungle coloured
tobe, although there be sometimes only
one pie (a small piece of money) tied to
it. My house is the desert, and I am
born a free man. Free as the wind. I
know neither king nor master. I am as
Adam was, my own master and king. In
the jungle I tend my camels and sheep;
my only labour is to watch them feed.
In my kerrier, my wife, my dear slave,
does all the manual work, while tending
my offspring, and woe to her if she forgets
tp prepare my evening meal. The
jeedal (whip) shall then have its turn to
make her remember for next day. In
such a state is any man happier than I?

@ "somali_dude. Ethiopia once had a ruler by the name of Mengistu Haile Mariam.

You wanna know what Ethiopians, especially amharas called him? "Barias", which means slave.

You wanna know why they called him that?

Because he looked like this:

Thatīs your Ethiopian pan-africanism.

You're raising some interesting points, however I don't want us to be like the Ethiopian people. Besides lol considering the difference in numbers we were giving them a really hard time a few decades back regardless of the conditions. I think you're giving them too much credit however I respect the fact that they're aware of what they are, they don't claim to be bantus nor do they go through hell to differentiate themselves from Bantus. They're aware of the fact that they're Black and African, unlike many of our delusional Faarax's and Xaalimo's.
If we be realistic there's isn't exactly much in which Somalia is excelling, but regardless of the situations the averege Somali is f*cking confident and bigs-up Somalia and never claims another identity (except them pricks on arab nuts). Just imagine if we actually started getting our sh*t together we'd blow anything out of the water because confidence is a motherf*cking stain they can't wipe off!

Also call me mad but I think Ethiopia should be our biggest ally since they're the closest thing to Somalis, with the only relevent difference being Religion. However from a political point of view this shouldn't be a problem as long as we know our limits.

@ Somali dude

Ethiopians or more specifically the xabasha that rule Ethiopian are more pan-Africans than Somalis because all her neighbors are Muslim. Ethiopians rulers have always protrayed their country as an island of Christianity in a sea of Islam.all the civilizations that they were close to in horn, Yemen, and Sudan became Muslim. They've had a besieged mentally for 1000 years.

another reason is ego, Ethiopian see itself as been in a leadership role. Ever sence the battle
of adwa when menelik defeat the italians africans had come in droves to pay respect to the last empire in african and xabasha had used this devotions to influence politics in these countries and Ethiopia is the seat of the African union. the xabasha leader is don't run their mouth or try to shove down you throat who they are. they do howere omit the truth and let other Africans make their own conclusions.

Amharas use it too, I know that for a fact and they use it for people who have dark skin, wide nose and kinky hair. They used it against the former dictator Mengistu Haile Mariam...lol

Miss. know it all! Does calling someone 'baria' amount to being non-panAfricanist? Yes,we have some bad history like having slaves or saleing them which Somalis and most other African countries were doing it for Centuries. But that shouldn't mean we are faking our PANA stance.
The most persuasive reason apart from culture is:History has taught our kings more than anyone. When Italians occupied Ethiopia,Europeans and the League of nations don't stand up to their words.Where as there were African Americans,Latinos, and other black states like Haite and Liberia who were supporting the Ethiopian case at heart which inturn has lead Emperor H/Sellasie to collaborate with Panafricanists like Kwame Nkrumah of Ghana to creat the OAU and support the decolonization of other African States.
There are lots of Ethiopians who still praise Colonel Mengistu for his unwavering stance on the unity and territorial integrity of Ethiopia despite all the blood spilt under his leadership. As a matter of history all the states mens including Meles are PANAs.
You Somalis and the North African countries are members of the Arab League as well as OAU from the start. So I think both of you incline to the Arab world than Africa.

Sir, if all Somalis thought like you, Somalia would be a world power. Alas, I feel as though you have acurately portrayed the different stereotypes 1-4. I know Ethiopians look down on us AA's, but they are more polished about it and definetly believe in African unity. In some cases, Ethiopians have genuinely formed relationships with us to promote economic and racial unity.

I have always wondered why I felt a kinship with Ethios. I like how they think. My people have lived in America for the last 300- 200 yrs, yet recently I discovered through DNA testing that I descend from the Balanta people found in Gineau Bissau. These people are believed to have migrated from East Africa (Sudan, Ethiopia) 800 yrs ago and have never been colonized. The "Balanta" name means "one who resists". They are proud and strong just like Ethios.

WRONG!!

Ethiopians, especially the Habesha kind, are the biggest racist in Sub-Saharan Africa. They are much much worse than Somalis.

Ethiopians enslaved Nilotic tribes in Western Ethiopia for centuries and call them baria (slave). Many Southwest Ethiopians face discrimination in Addis Ababa as they are ridiculed and not respected for their looks by the Habesha (Semitic) Ethiopians.

Does this make us Ethiopians racist? No.He went in to the country side and the people there never saw someone with that sheer size of him and he can't speak their language.Besides it was rumoured that he eats people in that locality but preists were explaining indefiance of the rumours Holy scriputres aren't meant for somebody who just wants to be touristic that is why the decon turned away.He should have got a guide with him.So what do you expect from uneducated people? Had it been in Somalia he couldn't have the chance to tell his story!

Stop denying the truth. Ethiopians also have racist tendencies. It's a myth that they are totally non-racist.

We are used to differences as we comprise more than 80 different tribes. And thus we have learnt to respect one another. There are some people who are racist even then most don't want to offend people.
