Serious discussion honestly, for the first time. Atheists/theists alike without inflammatory language.

"The Bibliotheca Alexandrina announced that Somalia is receiving the first batch of Arabic publications to support its national library and the University of Mogadishu library during an upcoming book fair, as part of a joint Egyptian-Arab campaign.

The Bibliotheca Alexandrina International Book Fair is slated for March, and 130 publishing houses from 12 different countries are expected to participate.

The Bibliotheca Alexandrina said in a statement Sunday that it is disseminating Arab culture in Somalia to contribute to its education and scientific research efforts, with 500 titles of its own publication.

The statement welcomed Arab cultural institutions that have announced their participation in the campaign, which aims to enrich the two libraries with 50,000 titles, which would be the largest number of books donated to an Arab country."

So basically, they want to enforce more Arabic culture in Somalia in Somalia.

Notice how Egypt calls us an 'Arab country'. " the largest number of books donated to an Arab country."

It depends on the books. Besides, for good or worse, isn't Egypt the closest educational hub Somalia's got?

It is president Morsi's (muslim brotherhood bankrolled by Qatar) war on saudi salafism. The current president and his block are members of islah, somalia's version of the brotherhood.

I don't think so, Sharia will never work for a state. Sharia should only be implemented in a Caliphate not a single country otherwise it defeats the purpose.

Somalia will be like UAE. Urbanized Islam. And with the oil wealth it will look like the UAE too.

the egyptian brotherhood don't believe in secularism and at the sametime, are at war with the salafis converting swathes of muslims. They believe in incrementally advancing the objective of an islamic state through education, stacking up the army and bureaucracy with i5wanis who could deliver the concept of an islamic state run by them and not by salafis. Turkey is in the fold too. the imam gulen movement is training 1000 somali students in religious studies in turkey. They are opening imam gulen run mosques and schools throughout somalia.

imam gulen movement
It doesn't seem too bad.

"The only way for Islam to survive godless modernity and regain a place in public life, Gulen believes, is through a new "golden generation" who can combine Western scientific thinking with religious belief. Hence the schools."

I don't know why this should came as a surprise Somalia is a battle ground: idealogical or other wise. the is a aqwani/salafi war for control of the ummah. turkey and Iran are compete for influence in Somalia. the was a recent aljazeera discussion about the movement of weapons from Iran through Yemen, northern somalia and finally to alshabab. while at the same time turkey is building most of the key infrastructure in the capital. the U.S recognition of Somali goverent has open door for Somalia while at the same time some academics want the president to reach out to china as the 2nd large economy on the planet so there is a lot of jostling for influence in Somalia. by the way didn't know the president as a member of the Muslim brotherhood.

Somalia is probably the most strategic country in the world. That is why the Somali people have been scattered around the world. And always remeber that Somalia is Muslim bt definition. For that reason alone the enemies of Islam will attack you.

who needs an enemy when the zoomalis themselves are experts in executing their own genocide? how are they muslims when their primary loyalties are towards their tribes and not islam? The civilised world persues their national interests and if they find savages like zoomaalis whose only contribution to their rich and wealthy country is through destruction, then they might as well take advantage of the vast resources of zoomalia.
