This is the first phase of the competition between the Turkish Islamic Gulen movement and the Wahabi institutions in somalia. This movement is determined to invest heavily in africa and somalia in particular, as they have already offered scholarships to 1000 somali students now studying in Turkey. Their intention is also to build mosques and learning centres to educate somalis about their version of islam. Their motto is "to create a golden generation of educated Muslims by emphasizing science and technology". the question is, could they co-exist with the salafi movement and institutions in somalia, or, would they be declared infidels and their mosques, presmises and schools be suicide bombed? Time will tell.

I like what the turkish people are doing, but what's with all their flags :/, besides they have their own agenda and just want to expand the so called Ottoman empire dream they still have. I still like what they are doing, but they are also trying to influence us with their ideologies etc.

Overall thank you Turkish people :D

I wouldn't mind that. If the people there get richer. If there's room to literally be a man of kingly material, than what's the problem. Our own traditionists and religious zealots are holding us back. The world is globalizing. Superiority is reverting back to those of action instead of submission as it should be. Being somali, male, named Mohamed, or muslim are not things that i controlled, and thus i cannot be proud of that because i didn't achieve anything from it. going to university, getting a degree, investing on a company, having a large net worth. Those are the things somalis need again. And to do that, they must change their outlook on life. The resources there, which are worth trillions are getting sucked away as men of different clans are killing each other for a piece of desert. If you think another ottoman empire or axis organization is bad for somalis, then i request you give an alternative option.

"Foundation would promote Turkish culture in Somalia"
Why would they want to "promote Turkish culture?"
I find this troubling. I think they're trying to socialize us to culture because we want fight back when they take our resources and built sweat shops in our backyards. All the money the are putting into Somalia, they will profit from it 2x as much. You think they are helping their Muslim brothers/sisters in need? Maybe, they get something out of it that is far greater. I think i know what but im not so sure since i don't really know how Turkey fits inn all this. I know why the US,Egypt, Ethiopia, and other countries are interested, just not turkey.

You obviously don't know what Wahhabism is; the turks is mainly Sunni-Sufis and has no interest of learning Wahhabism in the country, that's the job of Saudi Arabia.

I am afraid Turkey may not succeed in Somalia, especially in Mogadishu for obvious reasons.

I donīt like the idea of promoting turkish Culture, I am perfectly content with Somali sufism and somali culture, however, since most Somalis have become self-hating and hate Everything about themselves that hasnīt gotten the stamp of approval from a foreigners, Iīm willing to support the lesser evil, the turks in this case. Salafism belongs in the toilet.
