I want to become a peacekeeper in Somalia for the UN or something and document the growth of our country.
I'm a student who just finished high school and really would love to do this if it's possible.

you have just finished high school bro. u have long way to go. i mean i admire your ambitions towards betterment of somalia but u need to finish your education first before you can help. in order to be something or make a change for a country like somalia u have to have tons of experience and education that pertinent to the work that need to do. somalia's situation is currently a mess. i wouldn't advice you venture into that danger zone. like i said take your time, watch, learn and again more experience bout the political situation of somalia. but in your time of learn this try to be neutral and say our of politics as well as qabiil since these are the two deadliest atomic like bombs that is currently held hostage many of the somalis.

What Is dangerous about it? Look at the journalists dodging bullets in Syria and TELL ME Somalia is more dangerous. I would rather live in the most volatile palace in Somalia than in palaces like Aleppo, Damascus, Kabul etc. The violence is over exaggerated when it comes to Somalis to such an extent that the UN even said it was 'too dangerous' to send peacekeepers! LMAO.

Walaal if your passionate about it then pursue it and I promise you will succeed. Somalia is SAFE. Also a Muslim you know that you will only die when your time is up and nothing you do can delay it or speed it up so go forth with confidence brother =)

Join the united states army and choose one of their many scholarship programs they offer in any field that you want to pursue later in life. Get experience and practical skills by serving with the army for several years and then it would be easier for you to be hired by the U.N or, any other entity working in Somalia in a leading position.

somalia may not be as dangerous as it used to be. but still i wouldn't recommend a young man like the OP to go to somalia. it's still unsafe to do some business in somalia. may be the next 10 things will change but certainly not now. people are still being slaughtered right and left.

I was thinking about this but is there any way not to join the army?
My parents wouldn't support me joining the US army.

I'm asking for advice from people who are more knowledgeable than me.
It's common sense to ask if you want to do something.

invest your time in education and time some time. like i said before u are still young sxb. so don't rush yourself into this peacekeeping thing. i mean nothing is really wrong to help your people, but i think it's not the right time for u to do that yet. your ambitions are good though. keep them that way and i am sure someday your dreams of becoming a peacekeeper in somalia will come true. but give it sometime first.

Their is no peace to keep , don't endanger yourself for people who would kill you if tribal chief A called for a final solution. Continue your education so one day you could be in a position to make real changes and not die in Somalia as a foot soldier to organizations who view you as just another number.

Sometimes you have to be strong and pursue your dreams and disagree with your parents. If you waste your life by sitting in a coffee shop (while you pray every time and fast every Ramadan) and defend the tribe from their perceived enemy, they will be proud of you, will you be proud of yourself? You are no longer a child and this affects your life, not the lives of your parents. They don't mind if you kill Somalis on the name of the tribe, then, why will they care of non-Somalis? You can apply for non-combat army jobs.
