PAPís immigration policy led to skill degradation in SGs

There were complaints about nationality-based discrimination in hiring, especially in the banking, services and IT sectors.

As usual, Tan Chuan Jin had conveniently pushed the blame to Singaporeans for the lack of skill in the IT, Service and Banking sectors.

However, he did not mention the reason for the lack of skill in these sectors. Before the ĎGreat Foreigner Influxí policy starting somewhere in the early 2000s and got worse after Lee Hsien Loong took up the Premiership, there were hardly any reports regarding a great mismatch of skill in these sectors in the 80s and 90s.
