Judged: 1 1 1 There is soo much things on this forum that neeed to be redress, Tell me this, where in this world you find a place with,NO POISSON IN NATURE,NO CONTAGIOUSE DISEASES,NO CYCLONE OR HURICANES,THE 10 MOST BEAUTIFUL BEACH IN THE WORLD,I WILL SAY ALSO SOME OF THE MOST EXITING AND BEAUTIFULL AND SEXIEST GIRLS ON EARTH OK...HERE MAYBE BRAZIL BUT WE ARE NOT FAR BEHIND. Coruption what coruption'''you get caught drink driving or over speeding in the sey,try to give the arresting officers some cash and see what happen to you. Coruption in Gov,yes but where don't we have this, German president must resign due to shady deals,Clearstream scandal in France, wallstreet ruining the world economy,Put the banksters on wall street in jail first then lets talk of coruption, Guys the sey,is one of the best place to live, we do have our share of problems like any other country, we are not a develope country, but we provide free education for all rich or poor from 4 years old all the way to uni. We provide free health care, a quadriplle bypass in Seychelles is done overseas at no cost to the individual. We cannot let all the people who wants to come and live here come, because the place is so small we don't have enought land area taking in acount that 50% of the main islands are National parks and world heritage. There is only 52 Eu perse seiners fishing in the western Indian Ocean and the last SCIENTIFIC RESEACH carried out shows that tuna are being fished in a sustainable manner. IOT is an offshore company where the Sey Gov is a minority shareholder but all workers local and foreigh are protected under local legislation.average salary for fish cleaners are 257 usd plus housing food and transport,if that is not enough then talk to the european majority share holders to increase salary. some people are just jealous because we live in one of the best place on earth,or their problem might not be the Sey. it might be in their head even in heaven they will complain.check out other small island states especially the ex british colonies then compare it with the Sey. Man i am proud to be a Praslinois and Seychellois and all of you who are degrading my country look at your country first iawait your reply come onn no body. love from praslin Prasman |

Judged: 1 1 1 Ok i want to give you some general info about the seychelles and all of you people who would like to come and work here. If you want to work here you will have to go online and check out available vacancies ,try and google jobplus seychelles, and you will get the website, and from there check out what is available. Most jobs will be in the hospitality industry. Then you can get in contact with the different local companies, which either will have local agents to do the interview or it is also now a common practice to do online interview via skpe.If you are accepted the local company will do all the local procedures and trust me its quite difficult and when the local authorities, Ministry of Manpower and Social Development gives their ok the company will pay your GOP [Gains Occupation Permit]its like a green card in the US.The local company will then send you a plane ticket and you can come here and work for the company.Usually contract are for 2 years and can be renewed only once, that is you can do 4 years locally,Gov do not let persons stay more, you will have to leave the country and then reaply and do all the formallities all over again. If you will like to quit the local company and go and work for another you will need to leave the country and the other company will have to do all the above procedures again. There are people who have left a company and have stayed locally on a tourist visa and then have apply at another establishment, this is risky, the Sey,is very small and HR department of all the hotels tend to know each other and share info on prospective employers so its easy to get caught and deported and never be able to come back to the Sey. There are execptions, like if you are Doctors or Nurses this you will need to check on the Ministry of health website and from there they will tell you how to proceed its slightly easier and you can get citizenship also if the authorities like your work its much easier this way. Getting married to a local does not guarantee automatic citizenship. There is a crack down on this due to 'white weddings'false marriage. Now if you have a great deal of money its quite easy you can buy a house at eden island thats a housing developement project on an artificial island made especially to be sold to foreign investors this comes with freehold land ownership and also seychelloise passport and all. Salary packages,if you are in management in a five star resort of international repute expect packages as you will get in EU or Dubai. for example a GM of a 5* resort earns around 8 to 10 thousand dollars a month and all the perks that comes with the job.But for lower jobs its not that well paid due to very cheap lobour from say India or sri lanka you do earn more with service charge and tip money this can be quite considerable indid due to the high end clients that visit Sey.A chambermaid in a 5* will earn around 400 usd as basic salary plus room and board and transport, but with service charge and tips can easily make up to 750usd a month. I hope i have given enough info.I will be back ont he forum for more info if anyone needs help. Prasman |

On the HIV question...
HIV rate here is O.2%, which is 5X lower than Europes +1%. Almost all of the cases are drug injecting users so unless you plan on sleeping with skiny street junkies, you and your wife will be okay. |

Judged: 1 1 1 Of the 400 or so marriages involving Seychelles’ citizens yearly about a quarter are Seychellois men or women marrying a foreigner, statistics published recently have revealed. In the year 2002 there were 428 marriages, the third best year of the decade after the 484 of 2000 and 432 of 1999 involving Seychellois. Marriage is a sacred event which legalises the union of man and woman. Some of the values of marriage are that the relationship is built on sincerity, there is sharing, happiness and the hope that the union is long-lasting. But non-consummation and reports reaching the Civil Status authorities from unhappy spouses suggest that up to 10% of the mixed marriages are unions of convenience. Investigations have shown that some of the foreigners have come to the country on a visitor’s permit while others have been here on short stay, raising questions on the sincerity of the relationship that led to the marriage. It is suspected that the main reasons for marriages of convenience are to allow the foreign partner to obtain resident status, reduction in the cost of the work permit and later to apply for citizenship on the ground that the spouse is a Seychellois. This applies to some of the marriages, especially to Seychellois brides by persons who have been in the country for a short period and is suspected not to have consumed the relationship, that is lived together or planned to have a family. It is also apparent that the Seychellois bride is offered money for this purpose. At present all that is needed for a marriage to take place is to have the intention published and within 11 days the act takes place. There is only need for the birth certificate and in some cases a certificate of celibacy. There is also a notice of objection to a proposed marriage as is demanded by some churches. There is no way to determine if the intended marriage is genuine or based on serious relationship. With the advance in information technology worldwide, these days chatting on the internet could lead to marriage between strangers, although the two have never met. And people will go to the extreme to beat the law of the land in order to save a future spouse from deportation. There is a case of a Seychellois man who got his younger brother to marry his foreign girlfriend whose resident permit was expiring. At the time the elder man was still married to a Seychellois woman and his divorce case had not yet been settled before the court. Other foreign spouses get involved in illegal financial transactions or other undesirable activities which during investigations shed light on the status of the marriage to the Seychellois. As is expected of such marriages the partners often do not live together. In certain cases of foreigners marrying Seychellois women, it is also reported that brides are paid some money every month in return for the spouse borrowing but when the financial support is stopped the “wives” report to the authorities to have the “husbands” deported. This is when the Civil Status and Immigration authorities come to know of the arrangements for the marriage of convenience. It is well-known universally that unions between people who hasten to marry, especially strangers who have not known each other for long and who come from different cultural backgrounds, do not last. But the marriage has allowed the foreigner to either have access to local economic opportunities, including purchase of land or to invest here. When problems arise in the “marriage” arrangements and the foreigner is compelled to go, both partners suffer economic loss. It is often left to the legal system and other national services to sort out the break-up of a marriage built on pretence. |
