Title says it all. Why did the Yugoslavs start wars between each other, start killing each other, start committing genocide and ethnic cleansing and then separating from each other when instead they could have worked together to oust Milosevic. Seems like the common Balkan mentality of running away from the problem instead of fixing it, hence you have so many Balkan people who now live in the USA, the UK and Australia, instead of fixing their countries.

Majority of the Serbs voted for Milosevic and supported his 'Greater Serbia' ideas! They still do!

The problem was that each of the 6 Socialist Republics of the S.F.R. of Yugoslavia had its own former socialist's turned nationalist's who all courted the nationalist elements in their societies : SR Serbia, SR Croatia & SR Bosnia-Herzegovina

Those Socialists turned nationalist leaders were namely Gospodin Slobodan Milosevic, Gospodin Dr. Franjo Tudjman & Gospodin Alia Izetbegovic

Gospodin Milosevic initially wanted his Greater Serbia & Gospodin Dr. Tudjman secretively wanted his Greater Croatia

Pig faced Milosevic and his pet Monkey Jovic had planned greater Serbia for years, Even if Croatia or Bosnia didn't declare their independance. Serbs still would have found an excuse to start war .

Look this thread is about Yugoslavs, why the Yugoslavs started fighting each other and are in ethnic conflict. It isn't about Korean conflicts, nor Irish conflicts, nor African conflicts, nor black-white racial conflicts, nor Arab-Israeli conflicts, nor Arab-other Arab conflicts, nor Arab-Iranian conflicts, nor Indian-Pakistani conflicts nor Turkish-Kurdish conflicts, nor Sunni-Shiite conflicts or any other muslim sectarian conflicts. If I wanted to know about those conflicts I would start threads in the respective forums. OK so lets focus on the Balkan conflicts, and you seriously aren't telling me that your answer is because others did the same.

The racial conflict isn't as a direct result of the South African wars which you mentioned, there is no Afrikaaner, British conflict anymore.

P.S. By Yugoslavs I am including the Kosovar Albanians, think of Yugoslavs as citizens of former Yugoslavia rather than a ethnicity.

Hej Bratso can I ask you something ?.........

Why are you so fascinated with the conflicts & Ethnic hatred in the Balkans?(Ex Yu to be exact)

BTW this isn't a dig or an insult or anything like that, It's actually good to have an outsiders perspective on here,Someone who doesn't take sides and listens to all sides of the story.

I'm just curious as to why ??

:D

There are two possible ends to a cold war, either you can launch the attack which ends in mutually assured destruction, you can surrender which leads to you losing power initially and then coming back after 20 years or you can do nothing and keep the cold war going indefinitely.

There have been threats that there will be a civil war or conflict for decades but they have always remained at the threat level and haven't materialized and now isn't looking any different.

P.S. the threats of civil war here are the same as the threats that BiH will be dissolved, that FYROM will be partitioned, continuous threats but in the end nothing happens they remain as threats.

I have no idea, maybe it is because I can relate them to the conflicts here and in other parts of the world. Conflicts which are designed to divide and control people, when there is no problem with the different people living together.
